Greetings 4,892 El Sayulero Readers, Dare I say it? Have we arrived at the change of the season? I, for one, felt a noticeable difference in the weather this week, with cooler temperatures and waning humidity. Along with the homecoming of more and more friends each week, it feels like Fall is finally here, with the season-to-come squarely in our sights. I always love this time in Sayulita, this "calm before the windfall": rich with possibilities, joyous with reunions of friends and neighbors, abuzz with social energy as our village comes back to life.
What a perfect time for our community to come together and do some housekeeping. This week's El Sayulero spotlights a few of the great projects going on at Punta Sayulita - interviewing their Project Coordinator Jose Luis Caselin, and reporting on the new doggie-waste-bag dispensers now available around the beach. This Saturday the 17th is the Community Beach Cleanup, sponsored by Punta Sayulita as well, that will be a great time to get some sun, do some good, and surely connect with some old and new friends! Volunteers meet at the Punta Sayulita beach house starting at 8:30 a.m. Bring gloves, a hat, and sunscreen.
This week I'm reflecting on my Fall favorites: celebrating all things Gabbi; a mini-vacation in Viejo Vallarta; our absolutely amazing group of friends.

¿Me atrevo a decirlo? ¿Hemos llegado al cambio de la temporada? Yo, por uno, he sentido una differencia en el clima, con temperaturas mas frescas y con menos humedad. Junto con los regresos a Sayulita de mas y mas amigos cada semana, se siente como finalmente llegó otoño. Me encanta este tiempo en Sayulita, este "calma antes de la tormenta" - rico con posibilidades; alegre con reuniones de amigos y vecinos; lleno de la energía social con nuestro pueblito volviendo a la vida.
Es un momento perfecto para nuestra comunidad para unirse y hacer algo de limpieza y mantenimiento. El Sayulero de esta semana ilumina sobre algunos proyectos buenos de Punta Sayulita - entrevistando a su Coordinador de Proyectos, José Luis Caselin, y informando sobre los nuevos dispensadores de bolsas para heces de perros que ya están disponibles alrededor de la playa. Este sábado el 17 es la Limpieza de la Playa, patrocinada tambien por Punta Sayulita - que sera un buen momento para tomar un poco de sol, hacer bien, y sin embargo reunirse con algunos amigos viejos y nuevos! Los voluntarios se reúnen en la club de la playa de Punta Sayulita a partir de las 8:30 a.m. Trae guantes, un sombrero, y bloqueador.

| | Doggy Waste Bag Initiative Begun as Part of Sayulita Beach Clean
 The folks from the family retreat development Punta Sayulita, who are also sponsoring this Saturday's beach cleanup, have started an initiative to minimize dog poop on the Sayulita beach. Not only does dog feces left on the beach or around town present an aesthetically unpleasing sight and smell, but it also presents a risk in terms of the spread of bacteria especially in the sand and the water. To reduce these risks and the unpleasant sights and smells, Punta Sayulita came up with the idea of placing various bag dispensers around the beach area. Each dispenser contains 100% bio-degradable bags, that will decompose in less than a year. Punta Sayulita's Jose Luis Caselin has been distributing the bags at key places along the beach like Breakfast Café, Lunazul Surf Shop, Gory's Kayaks, Rancho Mi Chaparrita, and Pazport Surf School; as well as directly to dog owners on the beach.
 The bags were purchased from a company operating out of Salt Lake City, Utah, calleddogpoopbags.com. Bag dispensers were also purchased from the online company, and donated for the community by the Las Olas Surf Safari for Women. Besides being found at locations near the beach, SayulitAnimals will also have the dog poop bags to give out, so make sure to stop by one of the many options and get your dog covered before your next beach stroll! Also for those visitors or residents who will be coming back to Sayulita in the coming months, one great way you can contribute to this very practical and helpful cause, is by ordering and bringing more bags to refill the dispensers. Also, there will still be areas like around the baseball field, the North beach, and the plaza, that do not have bags provided; so it would also be a help if more dispensers could be brought down as well. For those who are able to contribute in this way, Punta Sayulita will be receiving the dog poop bag and dispenser donations at their Beach Club house next to Don Pedro's restaurant. And for everyone else, cleaning up after your doggies is the best way you can do your part!

Trabajando junto a otros grupos de Sayulita, Jose Luis Caselin de Punta Sayulita ha estado distribuyendo bolsas 100% biodegradables en lugares clave alrededor de la playa como el Breakfast Cafe, Lunazul Surf Shop, Gory's Kayaks, y Pazport Surf School, asi como tambien directamente a los duenos de perros que estan en la playa. Las bolsas fueron adquiridas de una compania que opera en Salt Lake City, Utah, llamada dogpoopbags.com. Un expendedor de bolsas fue tambien adqurido de otra compania online, pero donada por la comunidad de las Olas Surf Safari para Mujeres.

 As well as starting an iniative to get waste left by dogs properly disposed of, the people behind the beautiful new development set to go up on the peninsula behind Villa Amor--Punta Sayulita--are sponsoring a general beach clean-up this Saturday, October 17th.
The clean-up will be of both the shoreline along Sayulita's main beach, and also below the water in the Sayulita Bay.
The meeting time is 8:30 am, out near the fishing boats in front of the Punta Sayulita Beach House next to Don Pedro's restaurant. Kudos to Punta Sayulita for sponsoring this event, and to everyone who will be showing up to show their support for keeping our beautiful beach clean!

 Ademas de empezar una iniciativa para recoger y propiamente desechar de heces de perro, las personas involucrado con el proyecto del desarrollo nuevo que se vera en la peninsula detras de Villa Amor--Punta Sayulita--estan patrocinando una limpieza general de la playa este sabado 17 de octubre. La limpieza sera de la arena y orilla en la playa principal de Sayulita asi como tambien del fondo marino en la bahia de Sayulita. Para todos los que quieren unirse y ayudar con los esfuerzos, la hora de reunion es a las 8:30 am, en la zona de lanchas afuera de la casa de playa de Punta Sayulita al lado del restaurante Don Pedros.  Tic, Toc, and Tac where found in San Ignacio at the side of a road. They were likely abandoned. A kind local family picked them up and brought them to SayulitAnimals to get spayed and neutered. Now they are in foster care with the same family but because they already has two dogs, they cannot keep the puppies.
They are very sweet and funny and are probably a Chihuahua-Mini-Snauzer mix, so they will stay small. Adopt one or more of these adorable babies today!
 Tic, Toc y Tac fueron encontrados en San Ignacio al lado de la carretera. Obviamente fueron abandonados. Una amable familia local los llevo a SayulitAnimals para ser esterilizados. Ahora la familia los esta cuidando, pero solo por un tiempo porque ya tienen dos perros y no pueden adoptar estos.
Los cachorros on muy amigables y dulces y posiblemente son una mezcla de Chihuahua y mini snauzer entonces no seran grandes. Adopta uno o mas de estos adorables bebes hoy!

1. Born in Sayulita? I was actually born in Guadalajara, Mexico. I moved to Sayulita 10 years ago with my wife.

2. Family History and Information? I first met my wife Martha, who owns El Corte here in town, back in High School. We had many common friends and began first dating during the final year of High School in Guadalajara and then attended the University there. After a year of studying tourism development, I met up with Martha in Sayulita in 1999. We were married in the year 2002 and have two wonderful girls between us. The oldest is Mariana who is five years old and the youngest is Isabel who is three years old.
2. Historia de la familia? Conocí a mi esposa Martha, quien tiene El Corte aquí en el pueblo, en la preparatoria. Teniamos muchos amigos en comun y empezamos a salir en el último año de la preparatoria en Guadalajara y luego asistimos a la universidad alli. Después de un año de estudiar desarrollo del turismo, me encontré con Martha en Sayulita, en 1999. Nos casamos en el año 2002 y tenemos dos niñas maravillosas entre nosotros. 3. Education Level? I didn't feel that standard education was the route for me and after finishing High School, I attended the University of Guadalajara with a focus on tourism development. I felt I needed to learn by actually doing, not reading and have always had a love for living in a small beach town.

No sentía que la educación tipica era la vía correcta para mí, y después de terminar la prepa, entré en la Universidad de Guadalajara con un enfoque en el desarrollo del turismo. 4. Business History? When I first moved to Sayulita I met a wonderful woman named Estela Gayosso, who gave me my first job opportunity at the former Sayulita Construction as an administrative assistant. There I would do everything from answering phones and customer service to general labor. Not being an architect, I was unfamiliar with particular terms used, but as time went by I became familiar with all aspects of the business, little by little. During that time I never forgot what I felt was the most important aspect of the business and that was customer service. In the year 2008 I was offered an opportunity with Punta Sayulita as a project coordinator and sales agent. I continue to enjoy the position more and more every day.

Cuando me mudé a Sayulita conocí a una mujer maravillosa llamada Estela Gayosso, quien me dio mi primera oportunidad de trabajo en la antigua agencia Construcción Sayulita como asistente administrativo. Alli hacia de todo, desde contestar los telefonos y atender a los clientes, hasta trabajo fisico. Como no era un arquitecto, no conocia los terminos particulares que usaban, pero con el tiempo fui conociendo los aspectos del negocio, poco a poco. Durante este tiempo nunca olvide lo que yo sentia era el aspecto mas importante del negocio y esto era la atencion al cliente. En el año 2008 me ofrecieron la oportunidad con Punta Sayulita de ser coordinador de proyectos y agente de ventas. Sigo disfrutando la posicion mas con cada dia.
5. What is your favorite food in Sayulita? In Sayulita I would have to say that fresh chicken and fish tacos are my favorites. I also really enjoy trying different things at the variety of restaurants in Sayulita. The diversity reminds me of San Francisco, California.

6. What are your future personal plans? I would eventually like to build a house here in town for my family as well as teach my daughters how to surf. Eventually I would like to start my own business here. I have been working every day for the past five years and feel that I would like to take my family on a long vacation to explore Europe or a Caribbean Cruise.

 8. What are some community projects you are working on currently for Sayulita? We have a beach clean-up project coming up this Saturday, October 17th. This will be our second annual clean-up and everyone is encouraged to attend and help keep Sayulita beautiful. I am also working on a personal project to help clean up the sports field, especially the area for the children. The last thing I am working on is putting in a cafeteria at the Costa Verde private school in town. Tambien estoy trabajando en un proyecto personal para limpiar y arreglar la cancha de deportes, sobre todo en la zona para los niños. 9. Having two school-age daughters, how do you feel about education in Sayulita? Both of my daughters attend the Costa Verde private school. I feel that the local mayor needs to take more control of the two public schools. From my personal experience as well as that of close friends of mine, I find that the Public Schools Administration severely lacks in both Supervision of students and general responsibility. I would love for my two girls to eventually go to public school here in Sayulita.
9. Tener dos hijas en edad escolar, ¿cómo te sientes acerca de la educación en Sayulita? Mis dos hijas van a la escuela privada Costa Verde. Creo que el alcalde local debe tener un mayor control de las dos escuelas públicas. Desde mi experiencia personal, así como desde la experiencia de mis amigos íntimos, pienso que los administradores de las escuelas publicas gravemente faltan en supervision de estudiantes asi como tambien en responsabilidad general. Me encantaria que mis hijas fueran eventualmente a la escuela publica aqui en Sayulita.
