Greetings 4,941 El Sayulero Readers, It's been a classic late-October week, with Hurricane Rick delivering blustery winds, massive gnarly waves, and a rainy and cool Wednesday perfect for lounging inside and drinking tea. Seems like this time of year always brings us a sneak-peek of winter before it warms up again and begins the more gradual descent into cooler days.
With five wedding groups in Sayulita this weekend, we will surely be seeing lots of new faces in town as the season begins in earnest. Local businesses are open and ready for the crowds. Burritos Revolucion is once again lining 'em up at their street-side counter; Don Pato is rockin' a new menu for lunch and dinner; and this Saturday night, A Bicyclette inaugurates their new home on the plaza with a grand re-opening featuring live music from Sayulita's own Los Tikkilyches.
Last Saturday's Community Beach Cleanup was a great success - big thanks to everyone that came out and pitched in to beautify our beach! Check out the article below for details on the Cleanup and photos from the day. This week's El Sayulero interview is with J. Trinidad Garcia Sandoval, long-time Sayulita resident and owner of Tacos Trini on the river.

Ha sido una semana bien típica de octubre, con el huracán "Rick" nos envía vientos fuertes; olas enormes y enojadas; y una miércoles lluviosa - perfecto para descansar adentro con una taza de té. Parece que esta tiempo del año siempre nos trae una vista adelante de invierno, antes de el calor regrasa de nuevo y comienza el descenso más gradual a los días mas frescos.
Con cinco grupos de bodas en Sayulita este fin de semana, seguramente vamos a ver muchas caras nuevas por las calles, y la temporada va a comenzar con ganas. Los negocios estan abiertos y listos para clients. Burrito Revolución esta serviendo los multitudes de nuevo; Don Pato tiene un nuevo menu rico para comida y cena; y este sábado por la noche, A Bicyclette inaugura su nuevo hogar en la plaza con un gran reinauguración con música en vivo de Los Tikkilyches.
La Limpiea de la Playa el sábado pasado fue un gran éxito. ¡Muchas gracias a todos los que ayudó en el embellecimiento de nuestra playa! Es mi ultima semana escribiendo la introducción para El Sayulero - asegúrese de leer mi columna nueva sobre la vida familiar en Sayulita la próxima semana. Hasta ese momento, se dejo con mis Favoritos do otoño: clima bastante fresco a dejar mi pelo suelto, el yoga del amanecer en la Palapa, veindo mi hijo caminando.

a 100% Success
This past Saturday at an event sponsored by Punta Sayulita there was a complete beach clean-up all the way from Playa Los Muertos to the main beach at the Sayulita Bay. With 138 registered participants, and between 20 and 30 additional volunteers, the event was a tremendous success. The volunteers cleaned every inch of the beach, collecting litter. Later, the trash was separated and correctly disposed. The objective of the event was not just the physical collection of trash, but also increased education about the environment in order to keep improving upon the Sayulita's quality of life.
 This is the second beach cleanup organized by Punta Sayulita. At the first clean-up, this past May 16th, between 80 and 90 persons attended with one ton of trash collected. Not only did more people attend the second event, this time organizers were able to separate the ton of trash that was collected, setting aside all of the materials that could be recycled. Among the many plastic and glass bottles, many empty oil containers from the fishing boats were collected, as well as bottle caps, cigarette butts, and fishing nets. Certain other more unusual items were also collected including a plastic car bumper and the metal base of an air conditioner.
It is for this very reason that Jose Luis Caselin of Punta Sayulita feels committed to organizing these clean-ups. About his motivations, Jose Luis said, "I hope that the community will realize that it is important that we be concerned with the environment and that we do not continue with our bad habits, like littering..this way we will have a healthier way of life, tourists will have an unforgettable experience, and we will leave our children with a better Sayulita for the future." About Punta Sayulita's interest in sponsoring the event, Jose Luis also said that "Punta Sayulita besides being dedicated to real estate, has an obligation and a desire to actively collaborate with the community of Sayulita, supporting different programs for the well-being of all of us who live in this beautiful town."
 After so much recent success, Jose Luis and Punta Sayulita will be continuing with this project and have set a date for the next clean-up: it will be on the 19th of December. In the month of November they will also be hosting an informative presentation about conservation and protection of the marine turtles. More information about this event will be publicized soon. But even just with the success of last weekend it seems that Jose Luis and Punta Sayulita are already getting closer to their goal of eventually everyone being able to spend a lovely day on the beach without garbage! And since we all can agree with such a vision, hopefully we can all start to participate in the clean-up efforts and help make the dream of a clean beach a reality!
Limpieza de Playa un Exito Rotundo
Este pasado sabado, en un evento patrocinado por Punta Sayulita, hubo una limpieza completa desde la playa Los Muertos hasta la Playa Sayulita. Con 138 participantes registrados, y entre 20 y 30 mas, el evento fue un tremendo exito. Los voluntarios examinaron cada metro de la playa, recolectando los desechos. Luego, la basura fue separada y correctamente depositada. El objetivo del evento no solo fue la recoleccion fisica de basura, sino tambien fomentar la educacion sobre el medio ambiente, para asi mejorar la calidad de vida en Sayulita.
 Despues de dos eventos de limpieza, parece que Punta Sayulita y la comunidad en general están mas cerca a su meta. En la primera edición del evento, el pasado 16 de mayo, asistieron entre 80 y 90 personas, y fue recolectada una tonelada de basura. Esta vez mejoró la primera: no solo asistieron mas personas y entonces hubo mas participacion por parte de la comunidad, pero tambien pudieron separar la tonelada de basura que fue recolectada, para poder distinguir los materiales reciclables. Entre las muchas botellas de plastico y vidrio que se recogieron, tambien fueron recolectadas muchos envases de aceite para motores de lanchas, corcho latas, colillas de cigarro, y redes para pescar. En la limpieza de este sabado, fueron recogidos hasta una defensa plastica de vehiculo y una base de metal para aire acondicionado: mas que subrayando el estado de crisis de basura en la playa, y la falta de educacion sobre ella.
Es por eso mismo que Jose Luis Caselin de Punta Sayulita se sintio compremetido a organizar la limpieza. Sobre sus motivaciones, Jose Luis dijo, "espero que la comunidad se de cuenta de que es importante preocuparnos por el medio ambiente y por no continuar con nuestras malas costumbres, como la de tirar basura...asi tendremos una vida mas sana, el turista una visita inolvidable, y dejariamos a nuestros hijos un mejor Sayulita para su futuro." Sobre el interes de Punta Sayulita en patrocinar el evento, Jose Luis dijo tambien que "Punta Sayulita ademas de dedicarse a los bienes raices, tiene un compromiso y desea colaborar activamente con la comunidad de Sayulita, apoyando distintos programas para el bienestar de todos los que habitamos en este hermoso pueblo."
Despues de tanto exito reciente, Jose Luis y Punta Sayulita van a seguir con este proyecto y han cerrado la fecha para la siguiente limpieza; será el 19 de diciembre. Ademas, en el mes de noviembre, llevaran a cabo tambien una platica informativa sobre la proteccion y conservacion de la tortuga marina. Mas informacion sobre aquella saldra pronto, pero mientras despues del exito de este fin de semana pasado parece que Jose Luis y Punta Sayulita están cada vez mas cerca a su meta: de eventualmente lograr que todos, gente local y turistas, puedan pasar un lindo dia de playa sin basura! Y como todos podemos estar de acuerdo con una vision asi, ojala ya todos podamos participar!

The f irst few months of Eddie's life were pleasant while he was still a cute, fluffy, little, white ball. But when he grew older and bigger, and wasn't so much like a toy anymore, he was abandoned. Living on the street, his hair grew and became filthy and matted, and he was starving. Luckily, two wonderful women spotted him on the street and immediately recognized that he needed help. Eddie was then brought to SayulitAnimals, where he was given a bath and a haircut. Eddie is in foster care now, but really needs a permanent home. Because he is a poodle, he enjoys regular baths and grooming so please someone give him the home and attention he deserves!
Los primeros meses de la vida de Eddier fueron muy placenteros--mientras todavia estaba adorable y pequeño como una bola de algodon. pero cuando crecio, y ya no era como un juguete, lo abandonaron. Viviendo en la calle, crecio su pelo y se ensucio y enredó, y estaba muriendos de hambre. Afortunadamente, dos increibles mujeres lo vieron en la calle e inmediatamente reconocieron que necesitaba ayuda. Entonces Eddie fue llevado a SayulitAnimals, donde lo bañaron y cortaron su pelo. Eddie está temporalmente con una familia ahora, pero necesita de una casa permanente. Como es un poodle, disfruta de frecuentes baños y cuidado entonces por favor alguien dale la casa y atencion que merece!

 1. Born in Sayulita? No, I was born in La Peñita, Nayarit. I first came to Sayulita 12 years ago. I came to work and sell tacos.

2. Family History and Information?I live in Sayulita with my wife Adriana and we have 2 sons. Luis Felipe is 13 years old and Joel is 6 years old.
2. Historia de la familia? Vivo en Sayulita con mi esposa Adriana y tenemos 2 hijos. Luis Felipe tiene 13 años y Joel tiene 6 años.
3. Education Level? First year of secondary school. My parents worked making tacos and taught me how to make them at an early age.
3. Nivel de Educación? El primer año de la secundaria. Mis papas trabajaban haciendo tacos y me enseñaron como hacer los tacos cuando era muy joven.
4. Business History? Growing up I learned to make tacos from my parents. I worked helping my parents with their taco business. Later on I began to make my own tacos and put my taco stand here in Sayulita by the river. I enjoy working independently.
4. Historial de trabajo? Creciendo con mis papas aprendi a hacer los tacos. Trabajaba con mis papas ayudandoles con su negocio. Luego empecé a hacer mis propios tacos y puse el puesto de tacos aqui por el rio en Sayulita. Me gusta trabajar independientemente.
5. What is your favorite food to eat or prepare? Grilled beef tacos are my specialty, also pork tacos and quesadillas.
5. Cual es tu comida favorita para comer o preparar? Los tacos de carne asada son mi especialidad, tambien los tacos al pastor y las quesadillas.
6. What do you like best about Sayulita? I like the people in Sayulita. The town is very friendly. Sayulita is also very safe and a good place to raise children.

de Sayulita? Me gusta la gente de Sayulita. El pueblo es muy amigable. Sayulita es un lugar muy seguro y un buen lugar donde criar hijos.
7. Do you have any piece of advice for someone visiting Sayulita? My advice is to be very careful at the beach and in the ocean. The undertow can be very dangerous especially for people from out of town who are not used to it.
7. ¿Tienes algun consejo para alguien que visita Sayulita? Mi consejo es tener cuidad en la playa y en el mar. La corriente puede ser muy peligroso y especialmente para la gente de afuera que no esta acostumbrada a ella.
8. If you could change one thing about Sayulita, what would it be? I'd change the streets and widen them. I think a lot of the streets still need to be fixed and to be made bigger with all the traffic there is in Sayulita now.
8. ¿Si pudieras cambiar una cosa de Sayulita, que seria? Cambiaria las calles y las haria mas amplias. Creo que todavia hay muchas calles que necesitan arreglos y ser mas grandes ahora que hay mas trafico en Sayulita.
