Karen and her team did an amazing job for our wedding at La Gran Villa in Sayulita. After meeting with what felt like dozens of wedding planners, it was so great to meet with Karen and she did a great job throughout the months we worked together. She made decision making easy and straightforward and her expertise with the venue, location, and other vendors in the area were so great to have. Her team ensured everything ran smoothly during the day of our wedding and we also really loved how they helped us to organize an earlier site visit months previously so we could get to know the venue, town, and do a menu tasting. Overall, we were super happy with how everything turned out and would absolutely recommend working with Karen and her team to others!

Amazing service & food

Working with Karen made our wedding seamless, stress free and better than I could have ever imagined. From the beginning she was thorough about what to expect with the process right until the end. Karen was quick to reply to emails, and sent everything one step at a time which made everything as least stressful as possible. She absolutely saved us when our previous wedding villa/venue cancelled on us 3 months out, she was able to shuffle some things around and got us an incredible venue which her and her team made absolutely stunning; we got SO many compliments. The vendors she recommended were amazing, I wouldn’t have changed a thing. On the wedding day her and her team made everything run very smoothly and kept us on schedule, without feeling rushed at any point. The service on the wedding day by the servers/bartenders was friendly and prompt, and the food was amazing. Thank you Karen and team, our wedding was everything we could have hoped for and more!

Best cake we ever had!

Karen is truly so amazing!! We had our wedding at Playa Secreta and stayed at The Grand Villa at Amor Boutique. Karen and her team were very quick to respond to all our emails and truly brought all my ideas together to create my dream wedding. She had a huge team working the day of the wedding and all my guest could not stop talking about how amazing the service was. The food was amazing and our wedding cake was the best cake we have ever had. Truly such an amazing week. Sayulita is such a fun town. Its perfect for exploring with family and friends. Its so rich in culture and the food is amazing. I would recommend her for any future weddings.

Highly Recommend!

Wow! We had a magical day and we could not have done it without Karen and her team. The day was flawless. The decor and vibe was everything we imagined and more. (Like almost hard to believe how perfect it turned out) Our friends and family had an AMAZING time, which was so important to us. The food and drinks were delicious. We danced our butts off, enjoyed popsicles and churros at one of the most beautiful Mexico venues you could ask for.

We are so appreciative of Karen's support throughout the entire planning process. It was easy and stress free for us :) We gave Karen some general ideas but let her run with it and she knocked it out of the park. And she and her team put everything together perfectly the day of.

Exceeded every expectation

We started planning our wedding during the pandemic so had nearly two years of working with Karen before we ever met her! It was a little scary trusting in someone we had never met but Karen made the whole planning process easy and wonderful. She walked us through every step with helpful check ins every few months and then weeks closer to our wedding date.

The location was more beautiful than anything I could have ever imagined, and Karen had great connections for vendors and food and flowers and basically everything we would need.

Highly recommend, she made our special day and exceeded every expectation!

Incredible Food!

Playa Secreta is truly a unique wedding venue! We hosted our ceremony on the public beach and then everyone went back into the small jungle space for the reception and dance party. Our guests loved that we were in the trees and sand, it was really such a unique experience for everyone. It was amazing to see how the space was transformed into a relaxed venue that felt very casual but also very beautiful. Karen was wonderful to work with from the get-go. It was fairly easy to walk through each step with her as she recommended some great vendors and was never pushy about anything. I'm also thankful for her patience with me as we changed our mind about minor details here and there before the wedding day. :D I was so impressed with the decor/setup the day of - I really felt like she made my Pinterest board come alive and truly appreciated the creative direction she took. We opted for the buffet and had several guests rave about the food the day after our wedding. Her whole staff was just so wonderful and kind. They all made sure every one of our guests was taken care of and truly helped make our wedding day that much more special. Thank you, Karen, and the Playa Secreta Team! We will miss working with you.

Surpassed our expectations!

Karen was phenomenal - I cannot say enough positive things. We planned the wedding almost entirely remotely, from California. Karen truly took care of everything - down to the last thoughtful detail. She was amazing at checking in along the way, and she even rearranged her schedule to meet with us over Zoom and in person several times before the big day. All of our guests had such an amazing time and complimented us on how well-organized everything went. But we did very little; it is all thanks to Karen! I'd love to have Karen plan another event for us in the future - she is the best :) Also, Villa Amor is just stunning. All of our friends and family were very impressed.

No stress dream wedding!

Karen was fantastic to work with and did such a beautiful job with our wedding! We really couldn't be happier. She led us step by step through the planning process and then handled all of the day-of coordination beautifully. Being in such capable hands meant that we got to focus fully on just enjoying our wedding day.
We pretty much stuck with the basic wedding package at Amor Boutique Hotel (which works with Karen) and were really happy with how everything looked. You have the option to upgrade most things (decor, table and furniture, food and drink, additional vendors) for an extra cost, but there was never any pressure to do so and we felt like our wedding was perfect. Karen was always very responsive and available when we had questions or concerns. Also, as a same-sex couple, we were very comfortable working with Karen and she was very thoughtful about those dynamics. We highly recommend Karen and Playa Secreta for your wedding!

Dream Wedding!

My now husband and I knew we wanted to get married in Mexico. I had visited Sayulita years ago, and had never forgotten the incredible people, the charming town, beautiful beaches, delicious food, and overall authentic place it was. So after doing a lot of research I came across Playa Secreta and knew it was the spot for us! I reached out to Karen, and from the moment I reached out she was a dream to work with! We set our date for 12/19/20, and then COVID hit. I was absolutely devastated, but knew postponing was the right decision. Karen was beyond supportive. When we were discussing new dates, the weekend we wanted was already booked for a yoga retreat. Karen could have easily told us it was not available. But instead, she reached out to the yoga group and actually offered them a deal to move their whole retreat to a different weekend so we could have our wedding on 12/18/21. This is just one of many examples of how she bent over backwards to help make our day a dream come true. We hired planners prior to connecting with Karen, but she was so flexible and was amazing enough to work with our planners to coordinate our big day and make sure we had everything we needed. In the midst of COVID, so many people are primarily concerned with money, and their own needs. Not Karen, and not Amor Boutique. When my mother in law was unable to attend at the last minute the hotel gave us a credit for the room that we can use within 2 years, with no hassle whatsoever. And as I said before, Karen worked beautifully with our planners and 100% supported us through every step of our planning process, all the way through our big day. Our wedding was an absolute fairytale- it was everything I could have imagined and more, and this was in large part due to Karen and her team. She is organized, responsive, and genuinely puts her customers and their needs above everything else. We opted for the international bar option and the buffet. The food was delicious! And even though it is a buffet, the setup is very classy, with people serving your food, and they even walk your plate to your seat for you. The bartenders were extremely friendly, and the service was superb. If you are unsure of where to get married in Sayulita, look no further than Playa Secreta, you will have the wedding of your dreams!

Karen Ruezga start doing events in Cape Cod Massachusetts back in 2002, she also worked with the Mexican consul in Boston as an event assistant, in 2004 she moved to Puerto Vallarta and started planning weddings for a resort in Riviera Nayarit, in 2006 she started her own business and became Amor Group Exclusive wedding manager, she have planned at least 50 events per year during the last 13 years and all her clients leave with a huge smile and the best experience of their lives. She has a degree from the University of Guadalajara as a tourism expert and an events & meeting managing degree from Northeastern University in Boston Ma.
