Sayulita Supper Club
Burrata, Tomatoes And Basil Oh My!
Here’s a super easy, throw-together salad recipe, perfect for hot Sayulita days or nights! I love sourcing unusual fresh ingredients when possible, so I jumped at the opportunity to get my hands on some home-grown yellow, orange and marbled tomatoes. These tomato varieties are quite easy to grow at home, you can get seeds packet at places like Home Depot, or even online. If you manage to get your hands on a more exotic tomato I encourage you to save a few seeds and replant, soon enough you’ll have enough tomatoes to create this salad and plenty more!
Not only does this salad showcase the beautiful bright tomatoes but also delivers wonderful antioxidant properties. This flavor combination is probably one of the best in existence; a slight variation on the classic Caprese salad.
Start with Thinly slicing the tomatoes, and add them to the plate by layering the different colors and shapes.
The Burrata is most definitely the star of the show, it is in fact a mozzarella ball with a delectable creamy center. You can buy burrata in Sayulita now at the Carniceria Trancos (subject to availability), at La Comer and at Costco.
Holding it above the plate of tomatoes pull it apart into small (or not so small) chunks and place around the tomatoes, making sure it’s evenly distributed.
Now, time to accessorize! Pick some small basil leaves off the stem and place them around the plate. I also chose to add some fresh dill, and toasted sunflower seeds on top.
Finally, time to add seasonings: salt, heavy on the pepper, and a generous drizzle of good quality extra virgin olive oil. Bon Apetit!
