Flag Day in Sayulita is a festive celebration that takes place every year on February 24th. This day is dedicated to honoring the Mexican flag and all that it represents. Sayulita, our charming beach town on the Pacific coast of Mexico, comes alive with music, dancing, and colorful displays of patriotism. The festivities typically kick off in the morning with a parade that winds its way through the streets of Sayulita.
The parade features school children, local officials, and members of the community, all proudly waving Mexican flags. After the parade, a ceremony is held in the town square, where the flag is raised and the national anthem is sung. Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural activities, including traditional music and dance performances (by both people and horses), food and craft vendors, carnival games, and of course the Jaripeo (rodeo). The night ends with music playing until the wee hours of the morning.
For the residents of Sayulita, Flag Day is a time to come together and celebrate their shared heritage and love for their country. For visitors, it’s a unique opportunity to experience the rich culture and traditions of Mexico in a fun and festive setting. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, Flag Day in Sayulita is an event not to be missed!
