Puerto Vallarta Plans For A June 1st Opening With Restrictions
Puerto Vallarta will begin opening on Monday, June 1st, but with restrictions. While hotels are permitted to open, beaches will remain closed and hotels cannot open swimming pools. The Malecon (boardwalk) will have limited access and all bars are to remain closed. Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro stated “tourism will be one of the last activities to return to normal.”
The Jalisco state government also began it’s “Economic Reactivation Plan” last week. In order to comply with this reactivation plan, Puerto Vallarta announced protocols for hotels which include disinfection of common areas, deep cleaning in high contact spaces, reducing capacity by 50%, and staff must permanently wear masks.
The Malecon will only have two accesses to enter the essential businesses such as restaurants, banks, and pharmacies. The entrances are only open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It will continue to be closed to bikes, skateboards, and casual walkers.
Restaurants will be permitted to serve but there is a cap of 50 diners per establishment and the tables are to maintain a minimum of 1.5 meters from each other. Furthermore, no more than 6 people are allowed per table and alcohol can only be ordered if accompanied by food. No tables permitted on the sidewalk.
Non-essential businesses such as boutiques, clothing, jewelry and craft stores continue to remain closed and will not open until authorized by state and federal authorities.
