Esaú Music: Setting the Right Wedding Tone
Music pretty much sets the tone for every event and is one of the top priorities for creating an unforgettable wedding day. The right wedding band can showcase your personality and set the right mood during the celebration, from beginning until end. Thus, why not hire the best of the best? Esaú Music in Sayulita is lead by multi-talented Esaú, who specializes in creating unique moments as a solo artist, or together with his band, Tatewari, for fiery gypsy music. Whether you’d prefer some Mexican traditional pieces, authentic flamenco guitar, or romantic classics, Esaú is a pleasure to work with. It’s easy to see why his experience, passion and natural charm made him a Bahia de Banderas wedding favorite.
First things first, who is Esaú, and what musical style does Esaú Music stand for?
I was born and raised in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. At a young age I became interested in guitar and began studying with a local man who was dedicated to spreading his passion for music. This man, Wolfgang “Lobo” Fink, is a famous flamenco guitarist from Bavaria who had settled in La Cruz after a very successful career in Europe. Lobo steered me towards flamenco music, and I went on to study with maestros in Guadalajara. I completed my degree in music at the university and traveled to Spain to study with maestros there. My career in Mexico has been successful, performing solo concerts, concerts with Lobo, and other seasoned maestros, as well as those with my fiery flamenco band Tatewari. In the Banderas Bay area, Esaú Music caters to weddings, events, and concerts including festivals held yearly in San Pancho and Puerto Vallarta, as well as productions such as that of Frida Kahlo by Adriana Quinto with Boquita Vallarta, in Puerto Vallarta.
How can a couple best work with a wedding band?
A couple working with Esaú Music for their special wedding should prepare a list of music they would like to hear with at least two weeks of anticipation. I will also present them with a list to choose from, and if they have special requests they can be entertained as long as I am given sufficient preparation time.
Is there a build up in your musical program during a wedding event?
Usually I begin with more tranquil music to get a feel of the audience. According to the crowd’s reactions, I then will build tempo. Sometimes the couple also has a preference that they prefer, so I keep that in mind.
Can you give us an example of an unforgettable experience you have as a wedding musician?
I was once surprised and flattered when the bride and groom asked me to be part of the wedding photographs. This was a wedding where I worked directly with my clients and therefore we had a great connection together.
Modern Mexican weddings are a beautiful mezcla of ancient traditions like the lasso (el lazo), wedding coins (las arras matrimoniales) and fashionable trends. Can Esaú Music add to bringing Mexican culture and traditions to a (destination) wedding?
If the client prefers a more Mexican theme, I would be more than happy to accommodate with appropriate music, as my musical repertoire is vast. Even if there is not a Mexican theme, I enjoy inserting some Mexican favorites, especially when working with my band.
Besides destination weddings, what other special events have you performed at?
Besides destination weddings we do cocktail parties, dinners, concerts, wine tasting, and any type of fiesta, such as anniversaries and birthdays. 15th birthday celebrations, or “quinceaneras” which are traditional in Mexico, are particularly popular too.
