Costa Verde International School: COGNIA International Accreditation
Erika Ramirez recently took the time to sit down with us and tell us all about the wonderful accomplishment that our local Costa Verde has accomplished. We are so proud of all the hard work that has been put into the International Accreditation from COGNIA that they have recieved. Lets jump right in!
1. Can you explain what the International Accreditation is? When did you get it?
COGNIA is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts, and education service providers. Cognia, formerly AdvancED, recognizes schools that meet rigorous standards focused on productive learning environments, equitable resource allocation that meets the needs of learners, and effective leadership. CVIS (Costa Verde International School) got this accreditation on January 26, 2022.
2. What does it do for CVIS?
Earning accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission means that the school is accredited and that Costa Verde International School is recognized across the world as a school that meets Cognia Standards of Quality, and maintains a commitment to continuous improvement.
3. What went into getting the International Accreditation for the school?
COGNIA is a meticulous accreditation process that includes data review, hours of training for teaching staff, interviews, meetings, and pieces of evidence to show that CVIS is in a continuous improvement plan.
4. How have things changed since receiving the International Accreditation?
Well, CVIS is now the only school in Nayarit and in Bahía de Banderas that has earned this accreditation therefore it comes with great responsibility. CVIS Staff and stakeholders are committed to continuous improvement and are working hard to increase programs and learning opportunities for our students.
5. Does this change anything for the students?
Yes, now students will have the opportunity to access any of the 36,000 public and private institutions from early learning through high school in more than 85 countries without the need to revalidate their studies. If required, they can follow an apostilled process to validate their studies. Cognia brings a global perspective to advancing teaching and learning.
6. Is there anything else that you would like to share?
Dr. Mark A. Elgart, president, and CEO of Cognia stated, “Cognia Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school and its community on the primary goal of preparing lifelong learners in engaging environments where all students can flourish. Costa Verde International School is to be commended for demonstrating that it has met high standards, and is making progress on key indicators that impact student learning.”
