Description

Forget your troubles & staycation in style with enhanced cleanliness. Now relax...

Nap hard in this hillside retreat with amazing, close-up ocean views out over Playa Los Muertos and a sweeping expanse of jungle. Ideal for a romantic getaway in an exceptional setting, close to the center of town yet worlds away from the bustle and noise. Well suited for travelers looking to unplug & refresh within the beautiful tropical rainforest. We offer maid service so you can enjoy more pool time. :)

The space
Retreat yourself to a private split-level loft nestled into the hillside where the ocean meets the jungle. Only visible from the sea, Marita offers an incredible level of privacy. A wall of windows open up to magnificent ocean views and still retain complete privacy.

The private, shady terrace offers some respite from the sun. It's ample enough to stretch out on the lounge chairs or enjoy your local food finds as you dine al fresco.

As minimalists, we designed this space to provide everything that you need and nothing that you don't.

Guest access
Casa Marita is an extremely private stand-alone house with its own completely separate entrance. It is tucked into the hillside, not visible at all from the street. It sits above the Los Muertos beach, surrounded by jungle canopy, within a larger estate that holds one other home. The infinity pool is shared equally between our two homes and it is the only communal aspect to the property. The pool area is totally separate and it has its own separate entrance. You may never run into the other guests or you may just make some new friends.

Due to COVID, we have to limit the access of our homes and pool area to you and the other 2 guests in our other home if we have them. We have also placed the lounge chairs and umbrella sets with at least 6 feet of separation between them. The pool's dimensions are 13 ft. by 20 ft.

Other things to note

SayulitaLife provides you with an estimate that does not include tax (IVA 16%). You must request an actual quote from the host for up-to-date pricing as it varies based on demand.

We have the fastest and most reliable fiber-optic internet available in Sayulita with 50+Mbps up as well as a satellite system as backup. We also have a multi-camera security system with manned response to keep you safe.

We follow World Tourism & Travel Council's Safe Travels guidelines of enhanced cleanliness.

Sayulita is currently experiencing a water shortage so we have removed the tub stoppers as a means of water conservation. Enjoy that amazing rainshower!

Relax and let someone else do the dishes. Maid service is included every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

We are foodies so we fully equipped the kitchen with tools, proper knives, pots and pans, etc. We provide purified drinking water but you should stock up on any staples you might want--salt, olive oil, etc. You'll find some of the best coffee in the world in our area so explore the varieties, just ask them to grind the beans coarse for a french press.

Welcome to the jungle! It is alive with flora and fauna--chachalacas, iguanas, coati mundis. Oh my! We have screens on all of the windows but persistent creatures, like geckos, will eventually make their way in through any gap left in a screen or crack under a door. As locals, we have found that there is no real way to keep them out, so we just learn to live with their calls, which sound like "kisses", and remember all the good that they do as nature's pest control.

Please also consider our other casita on the property, Casa Estrellita

If you want to wake up and open sliding floor-to-ceiling glass doors to a cliff side lush jungle, overlooking a south cove ocean view while your ears are filled with the natural sounds of birds songs, crashing waves and wind in the palms... this is your spot. They provide binoculars to peep every little stunning crack and crevice of the vistas available from the two balconies. The bed is comfortable, the air conditioning is nice and cold (super important for a tropical locale stay!), and the shower/tub is luxurious. It’s simple yet modern in its essentials; has everything you’ll want and need. This well-curated getaway is visually appealing, ambiance and essentials/amenities are there, and the sincere care, consideration and availability of the hosts add up to a triple A+ in the hosting realm.

Amazing views and a great location
This home is awesome. It’s perched on the hill with views of the ocean and is secluded away from the town. If you walk outside the house and just a hundred feet down you will have an amazing view of the bay and the city as well as hear the noises and music down coming from the town. Amazing views and a great location. We really enjoyed our time here and would stay again. You can walk right down to Playa Los Muertos in a few minutes. Also a close walk into town as well. Felt very safe on the property and the pool has a great ocean view. We spotted iguanas and birds - tons of nature right in our backyard. We had nearly 10 gallons of fresh drinking water provided as well! Highly recommended!

Great Stay
Casa Marita is a good value for the price. It’s a walk to town and part of the road is not lit at night. If you enjoy walking, its not an issue. If you don't like walking rent a golf cart before arriving. It’s quiet at night and we were never bothered by the sound of neighbors. Enjoy Sayulita

Disappointed
It's not a Bad place to stay, it's just very misrepresented. Luxury...? No. 360 degree views....? Um, no. Not even close. The shower is terrible. There is not enough water pressure to wash your hair. And the place is a lot more outdated than the pictures lead you to believe. The pool was by far the best feature, and the view from there is great. Though we could make a small mosaic with the tiles that we found in the bottom of the pool. And just know that you are in the jungle. The bugs are terrible. Though management did respond promptly and sent someone over with bug-spray, which did help. My other big concern was safety. It bothered me that there was no backup lock/deadbolt to the front door. If Anyone had the code, they could get into your home. Period. And the first floor window doesn't even have a lock! A small ladder is all it would take. Ultimately it was OK, but definitely not the experience that we were looking forward to.

Response from Owner/Manager on 10/31/2016

We were happy to hear that Christina loved the pool and the views along with our attentive service. However, we were surprised and disappointed to read her less-than-stellar review. We respect our guests and their privacy so it is our policy to protect that; however, it is vital to have a minimum of context to understand Christina's perspective in her critique. We will only say is that it was clear to us that Christina was unhappy before she even stayed the first night in our home, for reasons that had nothing to do with us nor with our property. Because of this, we called and checked in with Christina on multiple occasions during her stay to make sure that she was taken care of.

We believe that the lack of luxury she referred to is the fact that the stove, like every other high-end stove in Mexico, requires a push-button to start it. Though we have clear instructions in our house manual, she thought the range was broken. Once we talked her through it, she was able to make it work for herself.

She also told us that she knew the house was set in the jungle but she hadn't understood the realities of that. We did not have ants in the house before her arrival. But, since, she left out open food waste and dirty dishes, it drew ants. We immediately sent out a can of spray for the inside of the house and treated the perimeter of the entire property. We will now make a note about prevention in our manual.

We followed up, both personally and via email, after these two conversations with her but she never mentioned any other issues. Had she told us about the showerhead, we would have dealt with it immediately, just as we did with the other items. The showerhead and the few loose mosaic tiles in the pool were both quick fixes.

We have never had a security issue at either of our homes. In fact, they were designed with that in mind--the first floor of the house sits up one entire story above ground on a steep hill and we have locks on every door and window. We double-checked, after reading her review, and found that every lock is indeed working properly.

We are truly sorry that Christina's perceptions did not live up to her expectations and we have examined all of her points and made adjustments where necessary. We realize that some things are a matter of opinion but, in fact, the house does have views in all directions of ocean and jungle and it does have luxury furnishings which we had to import from the U.S. because they simply were not available in Mexico.

We tried our best to attend to Christina's needs before, during and after her stay. We work diligently and consistently to maintain the home to our high standards and we are confident that our photos accurately depict the house and the setting. We pride ourselves in our attention to detail and customer service because we sincerely want our guests to have an incredible stay. Even beyond that, this is our home and we truly care.

Magical Marita!
My boyfriend and I booked our stay at Casa Marita for one week in June, and our visit there exceeded expectations. Having lived in Sayulita for some time and seeing a number of lovely other homes in the area, I have to say that Casa Marita is an unparalleled, one-of-a-kind gem.

The views were unbeatable, and air-conditioned room was a much needed respite from the heat during the hot summer months. Every detail in the home is simple, yet perfectly executed. Bird watching and seeing a bird of paradise was a HUGE BONUS! And last but not least, the pool was GORGEOUS. You absolutely can't beat the view while cooling off after a long, exhausting day.

We immediately felt at home and will happily make a return visit, when scheduling allows. Thank you, AnnMarie & Isaac for your hospitality -- we'll be back! :)

Amazing home with incredible views!
We have been to Sayulita a couple of times over the past several years so we were looking for something a little different this time. An acquaintance recommended Casa Estrellita and, after viewing their photos, we decided to go ahead. We were so glad we did! The property was even better in person. Super clean with all the comforts and a fantastic kitchen to cook in! Big windows in every direction with views of the ocean or looking out over the green hills. The owners took great care of us from start to finish and were extremely flexible to help us out with our early arrival. The home itself is a really nice piece of architecture and a standout in the town. The view from the pool is so amazing that we found ourselves drawn to the pool more often than the beach. We will definitely be back for our next visit to Sayulita! Thank you so much!

What a beautiful and peaceful spot.
We came to Sayulita for the first time for a friends wedding, and wanted to find a place to relax and unwind. Casa Estrellita was the perfect getaway. Just a short walk from the busy center of town, we were in a completely different world. Surrounded by lush jungle and expansive ocean views we spent a whole lot of our trip just staring out over all of it from the infinity pool. We were even lucky enough to see a pod of whales passing by out in the distance! The home’s is inspiring to be in with its simple, clean modern lines and high ceilings. It is also just great to live in with comfy beds and a big kitchen stocked with everything you need to prepare the fresh fish and vegetables available in town. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive taking the time to answer a number of questions we had about our first trip to Mexico and even sent us a list of their personal recommendations in and and around the town We hope to make it back again one day soon, we are missing it already.
