The space
Retreat yourself to a private 2-story loft set high on a hill where the ocean meets the jungle. A soaring ceiling and lots of windows offer views that purposely frame the best sights and still retain complete privacy.
As minimalists, we designed this space to provide everything that you need and nothing that you don't. We furnished the place with beautiful mid-century pieces that show the loving patina of time.
The private terrace is ample enough to stretch out and catch some sun on the lounge chairs or enjoy your local food finds as you dine al fresco.
Enjoy the soft patter of the rain showerhead under the fold-over bathroom skylight with nothing but jungle in sight.
Guest access
Casa Estrellita is a private stand-alone house within a larger estate that holds one other home. The infinity pool is shared equally between our two homes and it is the only communal aspect to the property. The pool area is totally separate and it has its own separate entrance. You may never run into the other guests or you may just make some new friends.
Due to COVID, we have to limit the access of our homes and pool area to you and the other 2 guests in our other home if we have them. We have also placed the lounge chairs and umbrella sets with at least 6 feet of separation between them. The pool's dimensions are 13 ft. by 20 ft.
Other things to note
SayulitaLife provides you with an estimate that does not include tax (IVA 16%). You must request an actual quote from the host for up-to-date pricing as it varies based on demand.
We have the fastest and most reliable fiber-optic internet available in Sayulita with 50+Mbps up as well as a satellite system as backup. We also have a multi-camera security system with manned response to keep you safe.
We follow World Tourism & Travel Council's Safe Travels guidelines of enhanced cleanliness.
Sayulita is currently experiencing a water shortage so we have removed the tub stoppers as a means of water conservation. Enjoy that amazing rainshower!
Relax and let someone else do the dishes. Maid service is included every Monday, Wednesday & Friday.
We are foodies so we fully equipped the kitchen with tools, proper knives, pots and pans, etc. We provide purified drinking water but you should stock up on any staples you might want--salt, olive oil, etc. You'll find some of the best coffee in the world in our area so explore the varieties, just ask them to grind the beans coarse for a french press.
Welcome to the jungle! It is alive with flora and fauna--chachalacas, iguanas, coati mundis. Oh my! We have screens on all of the windows but persistent creatures, like geckos, will eventually make their way in through any gap left in a screen or crack under a door. As locals, we have found that there is no real way to keep them out, so we just learn to live with their calls, which sound like "kisses", and remember all the good that they do as nature's pest control.

We were happy to hear that Christina loved the pool and the views along with our attentive service. However, we were surprised and disappointed to read her less-than-stellar review. We respect our guests and their privacy so it is our policy to protect that; however, it is vital to have a minimum of context to understand Christina's perspective in her critique. We will only say is that it was clear to us that Christina was unhappy before she even stayed the first night in our home, for reasons that had nothing to do with us nor with our property. Because of this, we called and checked in with Christina on multiple occasions during her stay to make sure that she was taken care of.
We believe that the lack of luxury she referred to is the fact that the stove, like every other high-end stove in Mexico, requires a push-button to start it. Though we have clear instructions in our house manual, she thought the range was broken. Once we talked her through it, she was able to make it work for herself.
She also told us that she knew the house was set in the jungle but she hadn't understood the realities of that. We did not have ants in the house before her arrival. But, since, she left out open food waste and dirty dishes, it drew ants. We immediately sent out a can of spray for the inside of the house and treated the perimeter of the entire property. We will now make a note about prevention in our manual.
We followed up, both personally and via email, after these two conversations with her but she never mentioned any other issues. Had she told us about the showerhead, we would have dealt with it immediately, just as we did with the other items. The showerhead and the few loose mosaic tiles in the pool were both quick fixes.
We have never had a security issue at either of our homes. In fact, they were designed with that in mind--the first floor of the house sits up one entire story above ground on a steep hill and we have locks on every door and window. We double-checked, after reading her review, and found that every lock is indeed working properly.
We are truly sorry that Christina's perceptions did not live up to her expectations and we have examined all of her points and made adjustments where necessary. We realize that some things are a matter of opinion but, in fact, the house does have views in all directions of ocean and jungle and it does have luxury furnishings which we had to import from the U.S. because they simply were not available in Mexico.
We tried our best to attend to Christina's needs before, during and after her stay. We work diligently and consistently to maintain the home to our high standards and we are confident that our photos accurately depict the house and the setting. We pride ourselves in our attention to detail and customer service because we sincerely want our guests to have an incredible stay. Even beyond that, this is our home and we truly care.
