Description
Casita Camila in Sayulita is a private oasis of natural beauty and tranquility. Located on Gringo Hill -- a residential neighborhood just above Sayulita's town plaza and minutes from Sayulitas main beach. Enjoy your own terrace with WiFi or relax in the private salt-water dipping pool encircled with tropical plants and palm trees. This is the perfect spot to cool off and relax after a day at the beach.

The Space

You'll enter up 5 stairs into the charming, private "casita" (tiny house). This unique space has creative accents throughout. Natural large stones line the shower and bedroom. A boulder waterfall cascades into the pool. A private terrace up behind the pool has seating for computer work and chaise lounges.

There is a kitchenette fully equipped with a large toaster oven, microwave, and everything else you will need to prepare simple meals.

The bedroom is cool and inviting. It features a comfortable king-sized bed with high-quality linens as well as a twin-size built-in sofa bed. With beautiful light, there is a long desk at one end, a smaller workspace, a large smart TV.

The bathroom has a shower surrounded by rocks. (There are 30+ “heart” rocks inbedded into the walls, all collected from Sayulita beaches.) There is plentiful hot water and good water pressure.

A small white Eskie dog (Camilla) and a black cat (Sydney) live on the premises above the garage (where the owner lives in a loft studio with a separate entrance from your Casita). The cat sometimes visits, but sliding screens keep her outside. If you are allergic, we can take extra precautions.

Guest Access

Entry is through a secure covered enclosed garage that can hold a rented golf cart, in addition to the owner's. There is no car parking and street parking is limited if you're looking to rent a car.

Other Things to Note

There is no A/C in the casita. If you're staying through the summer months and wish to have A/C there will be an additional charge of $15 USD per day for a max of 2-4 hours of usage per day.

MINIMUM RENTAL IS FOR A MONTH. For 6 months or longer, renters will be responsible to pay the electrical bill. Proof of CFE bill will be provided.

Included is a friendly pool guy Fridays and a wonderful cleaning person Thursdays, who cleans your casita, changes bedding, and will order more large water bottles for you.

Taking your garbage out to the weekly street pickup is necessary. There is recycling for plastic, glass bottles, and aluminum cans. Owner will show you where this is.

Any help you can give to keep gardens watered and cleaned up will be appreciated as there is no one on-site to do so. (Owner will come down weekly for that.)

Please use the outdoor shower and hose before entering the pool or indoor shower.  Our septic systems are delicate so we count on guests to keep sand and paper out of drains.

We take care of weekly sheets and towels. There are plenty of places in town to take any other personal laundry items.

There is a ranch nearby, sometimes you will hear their animals. Early morning roosters are very common so if you're a light sleeper ear plugs are recommended.

Highly recommend taking odorless garlic and Vitamin B (for mosquitoes) and Acidophilus (for digestion) a month before arriving and during your stay.

Mexico is different from the USA or Canada in that the country/people have their own sets of traditions, values, norms, and ways of life.  Many things we take for granted “up north” are not quite the same down here in Sayulita.  Sometimes variables like utilities, smells, noise, neighbors, cars, animal life, repair times, etc just cannot be managed in the same manner as in other parts of the world.  While we do our very best to ensure a delightful and 100% positive vacation, please understand that some of the reasons we love living and vacationing in Mexico can occasionally be a bit inconvenient.  Thus, our refund policy will not cover any of the above items unless it is something within our immediate control.  Thank you for understanding.

Quite Oasis
Casita Camila is centrally located on Gringo Hill, just a short hike up the hill from the main square and off the main Punta Mita Road. You'll have everything you need for a short or long stay. The kitchen is fully equipped to make meals. The bed is very comfortable. The pool is relaxing although I didn't get a chance to enjoy it as much as I would have liked. Morgan lives onsite and is available to answer any questions or give a helping hand. She even gave me a ride down to the Friday Farmer's market.

Highly Recommend
Casita Camila is like an elegant grotto, a luxurious yet rustic space artfully designed. It’s a cool retreat from bright Sayulita sun, the accommodation and waterfall pool balm for eyes and body.
The living space is very clean, well stocked for the traveller and a quiet location near the top of Gringo Hill.
Morgan has been in the styling and condition of the place, in her approach, very detail focused. She is responsive to email communications with inquiries. She is direct and no nonsense, what you see is what you get.
There are two wonderful animals, Camila (dog) and Sidney (cat). They are as present as you want them to be. Sidney and I enjoyed some warm cuddles during my stay.
I appreciated that Morgan was kind and flexible in accommodating my departure schedule, taking the stress out of a busy day.
Be prepared for power cuts/loss of internet for hours at a time during high season. I stayed 4 weeks, it was only the last days this happened.
Enjoy your stay in beautiful Sayulita.

Everything was perfect!
We can’t say enough amazing things about Morgan’s place. It’s stunning, rambling, comfortable. It stays beautifully cool with the fans and the dipping pool is the perfect way to cool off before bed! It is so lovely to be so close to town but in a quiet area with the local chicken and burro and bird sounds.

Great Location!
Casita Camila is a great location. Straight down the hill to the town. No bugs. Comfortable bed. Good amenities. The only downside is the lack of sun due to the high walls

We had a great time at Morgan's house. She lives there but makes sure you feel private. The location is a lovely 5 minute walk to town and we found that we did not need a car or a golf cart (although the carts are fun for cruising around town). The pool is lovely and the house is packed with everything you need.

I have spent winters in Sayulita since 2004 and am happy to share information with you. In the states I was an art director and designer. Cold Northern California winters inspired me to head south in a Winnebago with two Samoyeds looking for a place to retire. In Sayulita, besides becoming immediately involved in helping unwanted street dogs (through fostering, spay and neuter clinics, transporting north for adoption), I managed renovations and interior design for people I met. I am now hosting the casita I built for myself four years ago, so you will probably notice attention to detail and pride of ownership throughout. I live next door, in a “loft” art studio I am still in progress on creating in off-season. I am a frequent zumbaist, novice salsa dancer, and experienced hammock napper. Sayulita, and Mexico in general, has been a wonderful place for me to get back to the painting I went to Carnegie-Mellon for 40 years ago. Life is good here.
