NORTH END LOCATION
Casa Tranquila is located in the desirable North End, giving proximity to the coveted North beach, and some of the best views for miles.
It is centrally located within walking distance of the town center. You won't need a golf cart here; the beach is a 5-minute walk, restaurants are 4 minutes, downtown is a 10-minute walk, and popular surf breaks are an 11-minute walk.
This prime location is characterized by gentle, flat terrain. The walk to Tranquila is flat until a medium sloping hill begins 150 meters before reaching the house; there are no steep hills to climb.
It is also free from the loud bars & clubs of Downtown and the South Side, yet maintains easy access to them.
With almost perfect walkability, everything you need - from restaurants to the beach - is comfortably within walking distance. Whether it's a morning walk to the beach, a midday meander to a nearby café, or an evening stroll into town, everything is accessible on foot.

NIGHTTIME NOISE:
Birdlife: Nighttime noise at Tranquila consists of birdlife rather than nightlife. Sayulita is a heavily canopied area that is brimming with a myriad of jungle birds that seem to compete for sound. Its ubiquitous roosters and chachalacas often call well before dawn. Michael provides earplugs to help out.
Neighborhood: With the help of of our listing platforms, our nearest neighbors are prevailed upon to keep a peaceful environment, day and night. While the once quiet neighborhood has grown, bringing the occasional late night party, your right to rest and to fully enjoy your limited vacation time is one that we actively defend.
DAYTIME NOISE:
Please reconsider if you'd like to avoid risk of traffic noise. The North End is becoming more dense and construction projects are active throughout the neighborhood. Tranquila's central location means that traffic servicing the North End and its construction projects can be sources of daytime noise. Especially during high season.
Please see a reference to common Sayulita sounds below.

INTERNET:
Download: 53 Mbps. Upload: 19 Mbps. Latency: 77 ms.
These speeds are uniform throughout the house, including poolside and the downstairs bedrooms.

BEDROOMS:
Privacy is a defining feature of Casa Tranquila. The common areas are spacious and the bedrooms are generously separated.
There are three large bedrooms, all with AC, comfortable king-size beds, and bathroms.
The master bedroom has a shared bathroom and is located on the second level (main floor) where the the kitchen, living area, and ocean-view terrace are located. A set of French doors provides a walkout to the terrace for an outdoor living feel.
The remaining two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are on the first level (ground floor), each with a private entrance from the patio; yielding access to the pool and garden. If you are traveling with children, and would like to sleep more closely to them, a door connecting these two bedrooms can be unlocked and opened. Also, one of the two king beds can be split into two single beds. All beds are pillow-top which comprise a plush layer for extra comfort on a firm supportive mattress.
These lower bedrooms are accessible via the patio doors, and are connected to the main floor via exterior stairs. These spaces are designed for ease of access and privacy, separate from the main living areas on the second level.
The charge for extra persons is $40 / person / night for the 7th and 8th person. A large sectional sofa in the living area is available to accommodate one adult, and an inflatable mattress can be made available.

KITCHEN & LIVING:
The gourmet kitchen is fully functional with modern appliances and plenty of utensils to accommodate cooking large meals for friends and family. The dishes are traditional Mexican dinnerware and the glassware is hand-blown. The interior décor of the house is unique, much of it designed and handmade locally.
A/C is available in the living area (2-ton AC unit) which is continuous with the kitchen.
Open-air options are available to the kitchen and living area via wide French doors that open up to the terrace.
If streaming a movie is great family fun for you, a wall-mounted 65" 2018 model Samsung smart TV will allow you to connect to your Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Hulu accounts. It does not have cable nor does it broadcast networks.

POOL, PATIO, TERRACE, & ROOFTOP:
The ground level comprises a patio, a large pool, a gas grill, and lavish tropical gardens of exotic trees and plants, like guava, starfruit, lychee, pomegranate, yuka, noni, passionflower, haliconias, red ginger, cactuses, and herbs. This diverse and prolific array of broad leaves and bright flowers have become a sanctuary to many types of birds– flocks of startling green parakeets and arboreal chachalacas among them. The pool has plenty of sun, there are hammocks to read in and games to play. These outdoor areas provide plenty of cover for shade. An outdoor shower keeps salt and sand at bay.
The pool has a shallow end which is a few inches deep; shallow enough for a child to sit in. It deepens to mid-chest on an average-height person at the deep end. If you have small children, please be aware that the pool is not fenced nor gated. It is not heated.
The truly expansive terrace on the main floor has an ocean view, and its many couches, chairs and hammock invite relaxation. The walk home from the beach is relatively flat, yet the terrace is a beautiful perch that guarantees ocean-view sunsets every evening, and is also a wonderful place to experience the magic of dawn in Sayulita.
The roof-top deck provides a bird's-eye perspective of Sayulita and has the most breathtaking views. A pergola provides dappled shade over a 6-person dining table & chairs, and the extensive floor space accommodates lounging & playing, and is perfect for sunset photos with family and friends.

ARCHITECTURE:
A Sayulita original, the beauty of this Mexican style home is defined by it's interior facade. The home's layout is designed around a patio that is delineated by arcades and columns. Wrought iron trimmed windows & doors break up the large expanse of walls and lend a striking effect. Other architectural details include a Misson tile "teja" sloped roof & overhang that synchronizes with "cantera" stone trim ceilings. The many stucco columns are interspersed by a parade of potted broad leaf plants, ferns, flowers and succulents. The gem at the center of these details is the pool & lush gardens; the house is seemingly in service to them.

PPRIVACY & SECURITY:
The entire villa is wholly private to you.
As is the tradition in colonial Mexican cities, the house, pool & gardens are entirely enclosed within high fortress-like walls extending along the property line. This wall obscures the home from public view, creating a private and highly secured tropical retreat. This street facade is painted in a contrasting color from neighbors, contributing to the rainbow of colored streets that are characteristic of streets seen all over Mexico. It also helps guests find the home easily.
Secured gated parking is available during the high season, and safes are available in each bedroom. Please see note about parking during low season below.

PROPERTY MANAGEMENT & HOUSEKEEPING:
For over 15 years Casa Tranquila has had the same same property manager with the same cleaning staff (really wonderful girls - Cynthia and Mariana) and gardener (Alex). Security is their high priority, and they have an impeccable security record.
The property management team has a physical location at the Plaza with open hours daily. They are available at all times.
Cleans are scheduled at intervals of approximately 3-4 days.
Tips to the house staff (customary in Sayulita) can be placed in the provided envelopes to individual staff. In response to questions about tipping recommendations, our response is always to please do so from the heart.

North End Sounds:
Despite recent rapid growth, the North End remains much less crowded and much more quiet than Sayulita's south side and downtown. The walk to the center of Sayulita from the North End is only 10 minutes, and its many advantages include a more tranquil environment, location close to the beach, not a lot of traffic, and no general town noise.
A really nice essay about the types of noise you can expect in Sayulita can be found on Sayulita Life: "Sounds of Sayulita" by David McKeagan.

Note about Laundry:
Guests aren't given laundry access. Sayulita has a number of laundromats. Ask us, we will make a recommendation!

Note about electrical outlets:
Electrical outlets at Casa Tranquila are two-prong only (no ground). They are standard 120-volt/60-cycle current, the same as the US and Canada, so no need to bring adapters and converters.

Seasonal Considerations:
– Parking during low season June 1 – October 31:

Low season brings heavy rains to Sayulita. This often washes out the unfinished road that accesses Casa Tranquila’s driveway and secured on-site parking located at the back of the property. If you plan to rent a car during low season, you will want to rent a suburban, jeep, or 4-wheel drive to access the parking space. Public street parking is available near the house and is accessible by average cars any time of year.
– Power, water, and internet during low season:
I
n addition to rain, low season is also the hottest time of the year. Heat and thunder storms (spectacular to see) put a heavy burden on the maturing infrastructure of Sayulita. Demands on restricted resources cause water shortages and power outages, as well as internet connectivity issues. There are work-arounds, but just be aware of a degree of unpredictability during the hot and rainy season.
– Hurricane Season:
Sayulita, like other coastal towns in the Pacific region of Mexico, experiences a hurricane season, the peak of which is August to October. During this time, the area is more susceptible to tropical storms and hurricanes. It's advisable for guests to stay informed about weather forecasts during this period.
– Power outages ranging from 2-3 hours at a time are a normal occurrence in Sayulita. High season population extremes burden electrical infrastructure while low season brings storm-related outages.

Best place ever
One of those rare rentals where you feel very sad that you don’t live there or at least own it with some friends so that you can visit whenever you’d like. La casa is just so lovely, the perfect place for three couples or two couples with a few kids. We very much appreciated the AC in each bedroom and the living room - crucial for July! Other really nice touches were drinking water in kitchen and bottom bedrooms; comfortable huge beds; and three separate bathrooms. We made big delicious breakfasts in the small but well stocked open kitchen, and ate out the other meals. We spent hours swimming and lounging around each day. The description and photos of the place are spot on, so make sure it all works for you and your group. We so look forward to returning!!

Gorgeous place. Highly reccomend!
We went to Sayulita for a family trip for 10 days. It was a wonderful trip & we’d happily return. If you’re expecting a resort area, this is not your town. It is a rural beach town in Mexico. Roads are rough, infrastructure is rough, but if you go into it with appropriate expectations, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. That said, we enjoyed Casa Tranquila immensely with its own pool and the privacy for guests the home affords is wonderful. As noted by the hosts, the roosters and native birds are a thing, so is some street traffic. The amenities of the house are great. We enjoyed the pool, the grill, the rooftops for sunset viewing and watching the chacalacas and iguanas. Jennifer and Michael are helpful and responsive hosts. The housekeepers & gardener are lovely people. Hope we can return soon!

Felt like our own luxury retreat
This is wonderful accommodation, with exceptional customer care.
It is beautiful, comfortable, and immaculately maintained.
I'd say it's also an ideal place to stay with a family -- lots of space for activities and privacy, and worry-free care by the staff. It always felt fresh, clean, and simply "cared-for". (This was resort-level maintenance and care, with cleaners and groundskeepers there on a regular basis, regardless of check-out/-in time.)
If you added a cooking service, it would absolutely feel like a private villa at a luxury resort. However, this could be a trade-off if you are looking for more autonomy and privacy.

We will be back!
This house was perfect for our group of 3 couples (6 adults). The location was fabulous. It is just a short walk to the beach and to the local shops and restaurants of the north side. It is on just enough of a hill to have wonderful ocean views from the second floor and roof top patio but not so big of a hill to make it difficult to access. Having 3 king bedrooms is a luxury not found in most houses of this size. The outdoor living space with hammock was extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very well stocked. The manager Jennifer was extremely easy to communicate with and very responsive for any questions. We had no issues with noise from neighbors. The house lives up to its 'Tranquila' name!

Nothing bad to say!
Casa Tranquila is perfect! 😍
The house is swimmingly decorated, wonderfully landscaped, and the views are amazing. We were huge fans of the patio furniture. Comes with beach chairs, towels, and umbrellas, plenty of linens and fresh drinking water! Great place to relax with friends. Nothing bad to say about Casa Tranquila! We would recommend rental golf carts. They made getting around fun and efficient. The housekeeping and gardeners are very nice and do amazing work!
Would definitely come back and stay here again!

Exceeded our expectations!
Our stay at Casa Tranquila was absolutely delightful! We spent a blissful 10 days here in February with three adults and our two grown children, and it exceeded all our expectations. Its location was ideal – in the North End, just a two-minute walk to the quiet end of the beach and a short stroll to the town center, but far enough away to be completely sheltered from the booming nightlife in the zocalo. Some of the highlights for us were the gorgeous gardens and the swimming pool. The expansive outdoor veranda also quickly became a favorite spot, with stunning views of the ocean and surrounding greenery. The home was impeccably kept, and the (lovely) cleaners came every few days to refresh the space and change the linens – which was much appreciated. We always felt safe and comfortable at Casa Tranquila and the hosts were super responsive. Thank you for sharing this piece of paradise with us – we cannot wait to return!

Our Second Stay at Casa Tranquila!
Thank you once again Michael, Jennifer, Ilse and your amazing team! This was our second long stay (with Michael as owner) of 31 nights at Casa Tranquila. It felt like coming home. Location of this Casa is in perfect proximity to beach and town with no big hills to climb or golf cart required. The casa is very well appointed, had everything we needed for preparing meals, relaxing and enjoying beach days. The rooftop deck is a perfect place to enjoy happy hour and especially to watch the beautiful sunsets of Sayulita.
Jennifer is amazing in the booking process and Ilse and her team do the absolute best at keeping the grounds and casa clean and safe. Jennifer and Ilse are a power duo that are always on to assist in any way that is required.
Sayulita is a bustling beach town during high season. There was construction going on nearby during our stay but was not an issue for us as we were usually on day trips or at the beach. 😎. At the end of our day, we would arrive at the Casa to enjoy the pool and the construction crews were usually winding down by that time.
Sayulita is also a town noted for its nightlife. We chose to stay again at this casa, on the North end of town as it is away from the hustle and bustle. Since our last stay other rentals have been built in the neighborhood where Casa Tranquila is situated and along with that comes the occasional late night party. You can’t control who builds and subsequently who your neighbors are or what they do late night, so this is where a good set of earplugs comes in handy. Our group noted that the bedrooms on the lower floor are much more sheltered from nighttime noise.
Did we have a great stay? You bet!! Casa Tranquila is truly a gem. We love it there and look forward to returning.

Michael (Mgr. Jennifer)
Bio Please mention SayulitaLife
Immersion in all aspects of foreign cultures is my passion. My travels have taken me across the world: SE Asia, Indonesia, Central/ South America, Cuba, India and, of course, Mexico. I have travelled throughout Mexico for over 35 years, and finally (finally!!) stumbled upon Sayulita a few years back. After returning many times, I decided to put down roots, and now Casa Tranquila is my most amazing home away from home. I have surfed, skied, and scuba dived across the globe, and of all the places I have traveled, Sayulita is a stand-out. I love it for its cosmopolitan, yet small-town feel, for its tight-knit community that looks out for each other in a way that only a small town can, to say nothing of the extraordinary surfing, fishing, and stunning beaches. As someone who engages with life on as many levels as possible, this town keeps me coming back. Sayulita is not a place, it’s a way of life. I welcome you to also make Casa Tranquila your home away from home! Live life to the fullest. We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time. Enjoy!
