Update on COVID-19 in Sayulita
Sayulita is continuing to practice measures to stay healthy & well. In an official statement to the public on April 1st, 2020, the governor of Nayarit and mayor of Bahia de Banderas announced that all social gatherings and activities have been suspended until April 30th, 2020, including school closures, activities on the beach, hotels, bars, and restaurants. Additionally, restaurants may only offer take out or delivery options during this time. Non-essential travel and tourism are discouraged for now.
The community of Sayulita has done an excellent job in banding together during this challenging time, and many have noted how impressed they are by Sayulita’s efforts to work together in supporting one another and in taking all necessary prevention protocols to best protect our town. As you can see in the picture above, Sayulita’s normally bustling streets are quiet, empty, and peaceful. It is a somewhat strange sight, but also wonderful to know that our community has everyone’s health and safety as a top priority, so that residents, as well as past and future travelers, can return to a healthy & thriving Sayulita as soon as possible.
