Hello, can you tell us a little about yourself?
Hello, my name is Ricardo. I was born in Tepic, Nayarit. I’ve been working in restaurants since I was 18, and that’s how I discovered my passion for cooking and expressing myself through the food I prepare. My passion for cooking led me to study gastronomy and continue working in restaurants.
How did you discover Sayulita?
I visited Sayulita for the first time about 8 years ago, and from the very first moment, I fell in love with the atmosphere here. When I had the opportunity to move to Sayulita, I took it, and I’m still as enchanted with this place as I was on the first day.
What made you fall in love with this place and decide to stay?
I love how warm and friendly the people are, the beaches, and the diversity of having people from all over the world here. It’s like living in paradise.
How did you decide to start a business in this town?
After living here for a while, I decided I wanted to share my passion with as many people as possible, and the best way to do that is through cooking, always providing a pleasant experience for the customer. And what better place than Sayulita, a place I love, to do what I enjoy the most.
Tell us about your business. What inspires you in food and customer service?
My first inspiration came from home, as big family meals were always cooked at home for celebrations. I’ve drawn inspiration from my grandmothers and my mother, learning to cook in the most traditional Mexican way while respecting the traditions they taught me at home. I always strive to give my best so that the customer has the best experience.
What types of services do you offer?
We offer various services, including breakfasts, buffet lunches or dinners, family-style meals, or multi-course meals ranging from 3 to 8 courses. I also enjoy giving cooking classes to teach clients how to prepare authentic Mexican food. We focus on classic Mexican cuisine and homemade pastries, but we also offer fine dining with a touch of elegance to Mexican food!
What sets your service apart from other chefs?
I think my greatest secret is cooking like a grandmother. She was the main source of inspiration and gave me most of my recipes. The love we put into every dish we prepare, always using the highest quality ingredients, and our respect for Mexican food traditions in preparation are what set us apart.
Do you have any special memories with a client that you can share?
It would be hard to pick just one! As a family-run business, our clients have always shown us a lot of affection. On one occasion, some clients invited us to their celebration, and we shared a meal with them at their Shabbat celebration. It’s also been incredible to connect with clients when they know the recipes are family recipes and appreciate that we’ve shared part of our family story with them.

I just want to thank Sayulita for everything it has given us and to thank the clients we’ve had for their trust. This was our first year providing services in Sayulita, giving our best. We hope to have many more years living this dream come true.
