Pro Sayulita Joins Municipal Campaign to Plant 35,000 Native Trees

Written by Julie Elliott and Janice Parker

Pro Sayulita recently attended workshops with several REDMÁS (Red de Organizaciones por el Medio
Ambiente y la Sociedad) organizations. These workshops aimed to train participants and provide accurate information regarding reforestation. Here are a few key points we would like to highlight:

– The importance of reforestation tailored to the specific area where the tree will be planted.

-The necessity of planting native species and avoiding invasive species.

-Proper techniques for tree planting.

-Collaborating with biologists and experts to develop a list differentiating between endemic, local,
protected, and invasive species to avoid altering the ecosystem and suffering the consequences.

-Partnering with the municipality at the endemic species nursery to ensure a greater number of
trees are planted. It is essential to select the correct size of trees, with a recommended minimum
height of 1.5 meters.

Municipal Reforestation Campaign: 35,000 Native Trees

In collaboration with several REDMÁS organizations, Pro Sayulita is actively participating in the
Municipal Reforestation Campaign, aiming to plant 35,000 native trees. This effort underscores the
significance of planting trees suitable for their specific environments and highlights the critical role of
native species in maintaining ecological balance.
