Heidi Lane Photography: Taking (Wedding) Photography to the Next Level
With her fashionista eye and artistic soul, a shoot with Heidi (Heidi Lane Photography) is never just that. She has over 25 years of experience in the fashion and photojournalism business and has traveled across the globe from NYC to Mexico to Bali. She lives and breathes to encapsulate your special moments, and never fails to deliver with that twist of style and fashion.
Heidi, you are such wonderfully creative and expressive human being. What role has your upbringing played in this?
I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where my mum had a dance studio. I loved hanging around the studio, watching her work and watching people dance. I believe dancing was the first form of expression that molded me into a creative human being. Later, I moved to NYC where I started to model and act. To me, traveling is what has brought, and still brings, me the most. Experiencing all these different people and cultures, has taught me to be very open-minded and expressive.
You have many years of experience as a photographer, actress and model. What are the key characteristics of each that you now blend into Heidi Lane Photography?
That’s a good question. In NYC I landed an international modeling career that, I believe, has been the most intense and steep learning curve. As a model you develop the core qualities of patience and stamina to cope with long and tiring workdays. Also, which is very beneficial to Heidi Lane Photography, a professional attitude with good people skills. Being an actress, I learned how to be communicative. Combined from modeling and acting, I grew and nurtured an eye for beauty and fashion.
What can I expect from a photographing experience with Heidi Lane Photography?
I’d say the one thing you can absolutely be sure off is, that you are going to look… fabulous!
I have over 25 years of experience in the business and do all kind of shootings. Wedding photography is one of my favorite things to do. I love to shoot weddings with that fashion edge. Like I said, with my background in photojournalism, my attention to detail and direction, I will make you look fabulous! If you book a wedding dress shoot with me, hair and make-up is all included!
Preparing for a wedding shoot, do you see it as a blank canvas? How do you start to paint your canvas when preparing?
I’d say it all revolves around the main characters, mostly the bride, and what she wants.
Do you consider your fashionista eye to be the trademark for your work?
Yes and no. My fashionista eye is an important trademark, but I think I would do myself short if fashion were to be my only point of reference. I believe an overall eye and passion for encapsulating beauty is more accurate.
Do you have some goals for where you’d like to see yourself in a year?
At this point in my life, I am happy with where I stand with Heidi Lane Photography. I have enough work and a relatively balanced lifestyle. So, I’m going with the flow.
Yes! I’d love for you to capture my very special moment! How can I reach you best?
You can reach me through the Sayulita Life website at Heidi Lane Photography, or shoot me an e-mail, and I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have. If I happen to be out of town, a Skype conversation is always a good and is a more personal approach.
