Javier is amazing - he accommodated a last-minute booking and gave us a truly unique experience. He went above and beyond all around, and his knowledge put as at ease when the tide was high. We were the first people in the secret beach and had it to ourselves for a few minutes before the masses arrived. I highly recommend this private, customized experience over the huge tour groups; we couldn't have been happier with our decision to go with Javier!

My husband and I set sail (figuratively) to experience all that Puerto Vallarta had to offer. Like many of you, we were overwhelmed by the amount of experiences sold online. With only a 7 day vacation, we had to prioritize which experiences we really wanted to partake in, and we both agreed that an excrusion to the Marietas islands with entrance to the hidden beach was a must! Now for those who are great swimmers like my husband, this is a no brainer. For me, a less confident swimmer, the barrier between me and this once-in-a-lifetime experience was a tight entrance to the hidden beach and a ~200 meters swim from boat to beach. Vallarta adventures wouldn't accommodate assistance if needed. I even posted here seeking your opinions on whether I should book anyway and many suggested swimming was a prerequisite. That's when I was reccommended Off The Grid. Not only did Javier and the boat captain pull a few tricks and secrets only those whove hired them know that made the adventure a great one, we also ran into a swirm of dolphins swimming along side the boat as well as mating turtles (WHAT?!). We ate ceviche on the boat and Javier took complementary pictures for us with his gopro so we'd protect our phones and cameras. We snorkled by the islands and hung out on another iskand beach.
I will forever have this memory and I am so thankful to Javier for it.
If you want to experience something special, don't go with the bulk experience with a big crowd. Choose this private tour. You will not be disappointed.

Had an ABSOLUTELY amazing time with Javier and Renee on an excursion to the Marietas Islands. Let me list the reasons:
Communication: He had fantastic communication leading up to our tour date. He was super responsive and provided detailed information. We booked a few weeks in advance, but I'd say do it as soon as possible because he books up fast.
Price: I looked at a lot of companies that did Marietas Islands trips so I was able to see the different prices offered. Javier’s services are slightly more expensive compare to the larger tour companies, but your tour is private and it’s actually cheaper than most of the other private charters of the same nature. So, if you’re looking for something that’s less crowded and touristy, pay the little bit extra for a more personalized experience. Also on that note, because it’s private, Javier has a little more flexibility. For example, we asked if we could go out at a specific time and he was able to accommodate us. We also didn’t want to do multiple beach stops (some of the less strong swimmers in our group were uncomfortable with the water that day) so he took us on a more in-depth tour around the islands and showed us where a volcanic fissure was! So that added a lot to the value of our trip.
Service: Javier and Renee were outstanding. If you don’t already know, Mexico runs on the Mexican minute… but not Javier. We arrived at the meetup location a few minutes early and Javier was already there waiting for us. It was refreshing to say the least, especially when some of the more commercial tours we took that week all started at least 15 minutes late. He was really engaging and informative the whole time and was really just easy to talk to. He also took lots of pictures for us on his GoPro and after we finished in the water we got to eat ceviche!! A special thanks to Renee for whipping it up – it was soooo good! And finally, Javier really went above and beyond and offered to drive us back to our resort after the tour so we didn’t have to catch a cab. I can’t guarantee he offers that service for just anyone but those were the lengths he went to to provide us with a really spectacular time.
General notes: For anyone looking to book this tour, first I (obviously) highly recommend using Javier. I wish I had known about him sooner because I would have booked more excursions with him rather than the bigger companies. Second, be aware that you WILL HAVE TO SWIM. I’ve seen some reviews on various sites about people upset that they had to swim to get to the beach. The area is regulated by the government and boats cannot pass a certain point. If you’re lucky, the water will be calm, but make sure that everyone in your party can swim. Life jackets and helmets are provided. Overall, it’s a really amazing and surreal experience and I will definitely do it again next time I am in the area. Looking forward to booking more with you in the future, Javier!

We had a great experience going to secret beach. The tide was pretty high but Javier is very competent so he really helped put us at ease. Then some snorkeling followed by beers and snacks. Great time! Would definitely go again!

Javier is an amazing tour guide. He knows all the great spots. He is reliable, kind, honest and down to earth. He is great with locals and tourists. Highly recommended!
