Yah-Yah had a Grand Reopening this past Saturday and were busy from open to close with long-time customers and workers and residents from the area happy to find Yah-Yah’s great coffee and favorite food offerings.
I was so excited to have Yah-Yah move to my street, I went twice on opening day! Nervous about a new location away from the plaza, owners Yahel and Belem have been happily surprised at how active Ninos Heroes is these days, especially with pedestrian traffic. I asked Belem a few questions about the move:
What things are new on your menu at Yah-Yah Cafe?
We have several additions to the menu at Yah-Yah Café. We have some delicious options over toast, sweet and savory. A couple of new sandwich bagels and delicious all natural organic chai locally made in Sayulita from our friends of Better Living Products, which is seriously delicious.
We also have a full showcase of sweet pastries like macaroons, fruit tarts, chocolate cake, etc. and NEW, NEW, NEW (and as far as I know) the only place where you can find vegan ice cream, produced in La Cruz by our dear friends of Vegan Parad·Ice!
We stayed with our classics from bowls to waffles and bagels. I also want to remember tell you that people can ask for gluten free bagels and gluten free waffles. We also have new options for our smoothies: guanabana, tamarindo, and maracuya...very tropical! Plus, another new addition is Espresso with Mezcal and Caramel.
What is different about your new space / how do you picture the upstairs being used?
Well, it is actually completely different from our last location. We have a whole new story. This place is bright because of the big windows and the sun coming in nicely, and big white walls do their part as well. We have more space and tall ceilings and the decoration is simple with some plants and bookshelves; we kept it simple. Air conditioning will help on those hot days to come!
As far as the upstairs (the second story), we are picturing a working room, a space for those who like to work in a calm atmosphere next to the nice smell of a cup of coffee. Stay tuned for more news to come!
What have you been surprised about so far in the new location?
Definitely the warm welcoming from our neighbors, who know where we are. Sayulita is made from that...supportive nice people. But, this time is about us, and it's just amazing how our neighbors are coming to Yah-Yah Café every day for a cup of coffee and a good morning vibration. It is amazing. Our friends are coming, customers from the plaza are coming, neighbors are here. Thank you guys! Thank you for being here!
