A large group attended the meeting at the Rain Tree to discuss where we are on a number of issues:

1. The party to raise funds for the Garbage program.
We talked about the need to get a date and decisions regarding food, cover charge and such need to be decided soon.

2. The logo SAYULIMPIA
Everyone was very pleased with Logo designed by Luis Verdin and his friends in Tepic. 10 55 gallon drums have been donated to the town to get the garbage cleanup stated. The drums are painted green so that the red Logo Sayulimpia would look very clear on the drums. Once the logo is spray painted on the drums some will be placed in a few of the normal garbage dropping locations (wall of shame and near the ball field) and others on roads that seem to collect a lot of garbage. There was a reminder to put holes in the bottom so rain would pass through.

3. Lazaro’s report regarding improvements to the town from the Municipal Govt in 2007:

a. The sewage plant will be operating a full capacity on Friday March 2nd. There will be some final work regarding planting and such that will take another month but the plant will be processing black water. It’s estimated that the plant will process between 6 and 15 liters of black water per second, depending on the time of day. This plant should be able to handle the current black water production until 2012 when a new module will be installed. It was further reported that our plant will last about 10 years and then a giant plant will be built near Ville that will take care of sewer from much of the county.

b. There is hope that the plant can sell the gray water to golf courses or other places that need water for vegetation or grass watering. One location that needs watering is our own baseball field.

c. The govt has a large plan for Sayulita that includes new roads with new sewer and water pipes that will be put underground and then connected to homes that have faulty septic systems or are leaking sewage to the land. Other plans include public toilets under the plaza, police station and a home for the Tercero Edad. The roads are Ninos Heroes, Revolucion, and Manuel Navarete.

d. Lazaro discussed the laguna that exists in San Pancho and that something similar could be done in our creek, with water filling the creek from the beach to beyond the town. This “lagoon” would be a great attraction to wildlife and fish and be an attractive feature to the town.

e. The pedestrian bridge will be installed over the creek on Las Palmas sometime this summer. There was talk about the need for a bridge that can take autos but lazaro said that will not happen now.

f. Water production in the town is about 50 liters per second. There is enough water in the aquifer for another 6-7 years and we should have water coming to the town from an aqueduct. It’s been reported that it will be in Higuera Blanca by 2011 and then Sayulita.

g. Lazaro reported that the Bay of Banderas is the fastest growing county in the country. He also reported that Sayulita now has about 3,000 Mexican residents and another 3,000 foreign residents in the winter months. This was much larger than most people at the meeting thought.

h. Zoning: Lazaro reported that its not possible to build 6 story buildings along our beach. He also reported that the county is going to mandate that 400 sq meters of every hectare have to remain as a green belt.

4. Luis Verdin said that we have to be much more proactive in letting the govt. know what we want for our town.

5. Two samples of environmentally friendly dust reduction products will soon be tested on our dusty roads to see what works best. There is still one further product made from Soya that also needs to be tested before a decision is made.

6. And finally, Marcos said that the group needs a part time secretary to help with the paperwork of the group.

Una vez que el logotipo es el spray pintado en los tambores unos serán colocados en algunas de la basura normal que deja caer posiciones (la pared de la vergüenza y cerca del campo de pelota) y otros en caminos que parecen coleccionar mucha basura. Había un recordatorio para poner agujeros en el fondo entonces la lluvia pasaría.

3. El informe de Lazaro en cuanto a mejoras a la ciudad del Gobierno Municipal en 2007:
a. La planta de aguas residuales hará funcionar una capacidad llena el viernes, 2 de marzo. Habrá un poco de trabajo final en cuanto a la plantación y tal que tomará otro mes pero la planta tratará el agua negra. Se estima que la planta tratará entre 6 y 15 litros de agua negra por segundo, según el tiempo del día. Esta planta debería ser capaz de manejar la producción de agua negra corriente hasta 2012 cuando un nuevo módulo será instalado. Se relataba adelante que nuestra planta durará aproximadamente 10 años y luego una planta gigantesca será construida cerca de Ville que tendrá cuidado de la alcantarilla de la mayor parte del condado.
b. Hay esperanza que la planta puede vender el agua gris a campos de golf u otros sitios que necesitan el agua para vegetación o hierba regar. Una posición que necesita regar es nuestro propio campo de béisbol.

c. El gobierno tiene un plan grande para Sayulita que incluye nuevos caminos con nueva alcantarilla y cañerías que serán puestas metro y luego relacionadas con casas que tienen sistemas sépticos defectuosos o se escapan aguas residuales a la tierra.
