It will be held in the plaza from 10AM to 6PM the weekend of February 13-14. Fashion, jewelry, illustration and interior design, such as furniture and décor, will be exhibited and available for purchase amidst a festive atmosphere featuring live music and workshops.
Gaby Romo, a clothing and accessories designer, who is originally from Guadalajara but now lives in Sayulita, organized this event in order to provide exposure to emerging Mexican designers and entrepreneurs in order to promote their brand and market their products. Gaby explains, ”We aim to give publicity to these designers who may not have a place to promote and sell their work; to support, give power and opportunity to small production Mexican designers”.
Additionally, and equally important, Pro Sayulita, SayulitAnimals, and Entre Amigos (from San Pancho) have been invited to participate in order to raise funds for their efforts in support of the community. Some local dogs that are available for adoption will also be present.
Says Gaby, “I think it’s something that is missing in the town. It’s an event that can provide entertainment and culture” including fun-filled workshops for both children and adults. Workshops will include a two day Taller de Telor de Marco (held from 10AM-2PM each day), which will essentially enable participants to create their own embroidered wall hangings from wool materials, and three one hour Sunday children’s yoga classes (starting at 10AM, 11AM, and 12PM).
If interested in signing up for a workshop, please contact Gaby at least one week in advance via inbox on Facebook at En Plural Diseño Sayulita or by calling 331 602 80 79.
The plan is for this to be a monthly event, with future dates being held in the same location as the weekly Mercado del Pueblo.
