I tried to get to O at Villa Amor this week, but I was thwarted. As many of you know, the road to Villa Amor is a narrow, one way path. So, the worst thing that can happen is that if two large vehicles meet in the middle of this so-called road, one has to give way and back up, which often causes a loss of civility.
This time, I even had a better excuse than “the dog ate my homework. Just when I was about to turn to the right to get on the path to Villa Amor, there was this huge truck completely blocking the road with lights blinking a message that in Morse code said, “What’s your hurry? I’ll be a while.”
In the meantime, I will give you a tip about a relatively new place called Pietro’s Carnitas at 45 Revolucion. If you are going to open a restaurant with essentially one dish, it better be very good and Pietro’s is very, very good. For 14 pesos, you get a small tortilla heaped with tender meat and a sextet of delicious stuff to put on it. Believe me, if there was ever a contest to see who could eat the most of them, I would be up there at, or near, the top rung.
In the meantime, O is a delightful restaurant, for sure. So, hang in there and I will soon share my gourmet thoughts with all you gourmands.
