Coste Verde to Celebrate Family Day

Costa Verde International School has a very unique and special learning environment that brings together many different families from all over the world and from here in Sayulita. The school welcomes and celebrates the diverse cultures of our families and creates opportunities for students to share their special traditions and practices.

Costa Verde International School also has a very strong belief in family participation so that parents, grandparents and other family members can be more involved in their student’s learning and in the school culture. The school subscribes to a family volunteer program to engage family members to have a strong presence in the school community. Many family celebrations and activities take place in order to maintain a strong connection between the student’s school and home life. By continuing to engage families in the school’s day to day activities as well as celebrating family and home life, the school believes that students will benefit from a more enriched and holistic learning environment.

Today, Friday, June 5^th, the school is hosting a special Family Day Celebration in order to pay tribute to our families as well as recognize that “family” is a very important part of a student’s school life. The school also understands the diversity within our families and chooses to celebrate “Family Day” in lieu of Mother’s and Father’s Day as a way of acknowledging that every family has its own unique make-up. Families are invited to come and watch the special family themed performances of each class. This entertaining array of songs, dances, skits and poems honors both the concept of “family,” as well as the school families. The presentations are incredibly special as they feature songs, dances and skits written, choreographed and performed by the students and teachers. Each student has also made a special hand-crafted gift for their family, such as the dream catchers and recycled newspaper purses featured in the photos. As well, the school is offering a breakfast to the families and a flower to take home and plant. After the breakfast and performances, students will be dismissed early to enjoy a longer weekend with their family.
