Donna Evans-Deyermond Officiant, who has been officiating at weddings in the U.S. for the last five years, has just begun to promote her services in Sayulita, saying; “For many years we had Rollie Dick, who was a wonderful officiant, but unfortunately is no longer here. In addition, there’s been a significant increase in weddings, creating the need for another officiant.”
Donna has a Masters Degree in Pastoral Ministry and first began doing weddings in her hometown, Buffalo, NY, where she also conducts services at several local, liberal churches.“I like writing and public speaking, and I enjoy people. Becoming an officiant seemed like an opportunity to be helpful to others and do something I found fulfilling,” she said.
She works with couples to make their wedding what they envision. Some of her clients write their own vows, while others prefer she do the writing based on their suggestions. Donna provides couples with copies of prior services she has conducted to give clients ideas for their own special day. “I also have a collection of readings they can draw from — or they may have readings that are meaningful to them.”
She tries to think out-of-the-box and offer unique and fun ideas. For instance, longtime friends of hers chose not to exchange rings, so Donna decorated a broom and the couple jumped over it, a tradition that once was popular in the South of the United States.
Donna suggests that when you are choosing an officiant, “Talk with as many officiants as you can to see who best suits your needs. When you’re getting married, it’s your day, and you should have someone you connect with. It’s a very personal choice.”
Donna Evans-Deyermond Officiant also has experience with and is available to conduct memorial services, should the need arise.
