Zen Garden Reinvents Itself

Zen Garden’s grand reopening was last month and wowed the Sayulita community. This rooftop lounge and restaurant has an ambiance that screams sophistication, while still giving off a welcoming vibe.  Soft purple and white light glows from overhead, and decorative lantern candles on each table provide romantic lighting. The tables and chairs are made from beautiful, solid, dark wood, and a cushioned bench with bright, colorful pillows lines one side of the rooftop. Live bamboo and a Buddha fountain adds to the tranquility of the space.

“We’ve worked very hard to create a beautiful atmosphere to tantalize all of the senses. One can hear the ocean waves over the music, see the stars and the moon after dark, sip on wonderfully mixed cocktails, and also enjoy delicious food. We reinvented Zen Garden so that it is a place where people can get dressed up and have a great time,” shared Suzanne and Summer Poulsen, owners of this family run business.

This is the perfect spot to go for a late dinner, as it is served until midnight daily. The only exception is Sunday, when dinner is served until 11:00 p.m. Zen Garden opens at 4:00 p.m. each day, so that one also has the option of an early dinner.

The food is contemporary Mediterranean-Asian fusion and the chef is top-notch. Current options include salmon and tuna tartare, flank steak or sirloin crostini, unique salads, pasta, chicken, and Sonora beef, amongst many other options.

A top mixologist from Mexico City makes an impressive selection of cocktails, from a lychee martini to a pina colada made with fresh coconut water and fresh pineapple juice, to a mezcal drink with cucumber, basil, and lemon.

House DJ Xerpent plays jazzy tunes, eclectic world lounge grooves, as well as house music. Enjoy live jazz Fridays, which will feature The Banderas Bay Jazz Allstars and on Tuesdays, The Good Stuff, will perform all of your favorite songs from the Beatles, Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, and other great artists.

“We are always trying to think of ways to make the experience better for our customers, whether it is new food, music, or entertainment. We are going to be bringing in new artists and regularly have special events. Zen Garden is the perfect spot for a quiet, romantic dinner, a family dinner, a rehearsal dinner, or a wedding reception,” shared Suzanne and Summer.
