Description

Casa Nicoya in Sayulita is a beautiful three bedroom hilltop vacation home, conveniently located on Gringo Hill, just a 5-7 minute walk from the Plaza and Beach, with ocean views and stunning sunsets to be enjoyed from every floor.

Relax by the saltwater pool, grill up some dinner, nap in a hammock or read a book in one of the many comfy lounge spaces and enjoy the tropical breezes this unique indoor/outdoor floor plan has to offer.

The Main House at Casa Nicoya is comprised of three bedrooms, and three and a half baths on two levels, each with their own fully-equipped kitchen and lounge area. Perfectly situated overlooking twinkly Sayulita you will enjoy taking in the ocean to the North, and breathtaking sunsets to the West.

The first floor includes an en-suite King bedroom with its own spacious bathroom, ceiling fan & A/C unit.

The second floor is like sleeping in a treehouse with sweeping views and jungle breezes. There are two bedrooms, a King bedroom with screened-in glass sliding windows, floor fan & A/C , and an open-air King bedroom with ceiling fan & curtains for privacy, each with their own en-suite bathroom. The King can be converted to two Twins if desired. These two bedrooms share a second kitchen and lounge area. Every bedroom in Casa Nicoya has roomy closets, a state-of-the-art keypad safe for your valuables, hair dryer, fan and mosquito net for your comfort.

Disconnect completely or work remotely from the hammock, our wifi is strong enough for your Zoom calls.

We have two internet providers  (Sayulita WIFI & Telmex) to maximize signal strength & uptime.

Housekeeping service is twice weekly and drinkable water is provided on every floor. We are happy to share booking information for airport pickup, golf cart rental/delivery, local activities, or share our favorite spots to surf and eat, just ask during booking!

Due to the existance of many high balconies and stone stairs, for safety reasons, we do not rent to families with children ages 2-12. We hope you understand.

THINGS TO NOTE:

* This listing is for the Main House only. Depending on the dates, the separate lower Casita (not included in this listing) is available via this listing for specific dates, //www.sayulitalife.com/nicoya

or may be occupied by the owner or property manager, Zoey. With the Main House rental you will have a private entrance, exclusive access to the Main House and 24/7 access to the pool. The only thing that is shared with the Casita is the garage entrance & the pool area (but don't worry we'll give you plenty of solo time by the pool if we are there).

* Casa Nicoya is up on the hill, tiered into the hillside. The Main house is two levels, with stairs in between and stairs down to the pool level below. The walk to town is either a 7 min staircase walk or a still-pretty-short street walk. If you have an aversion to stairs, Casa Nicoya may not be for you. :) But we think the views and central location are worth it!

* Like most Sayulita homes, you will likely hear the "symphony of the jungle" while staying with us & the occasional dance party from the valley below. Birds, roosters, the neighbor donkey...you never know who will chime in as the sun rises. If you are sensitive to noise we recommend running a floor fan for white noise.

THINGS TO NOTE FOR July-Oct bookings: Guests booking during rainy season
* We are located in a tropical, rural area with teeming wildlife blended into town and surrounding it. The house is VERY OPEN which is what makes it unique and special. Please note that during big rains, common spaces will get wet and there will be more mosquitos and insects in the house. The open-air room may get wind or mist in big storms so we recommend not relying on that bedroom or the sofa beds during rainy season.

* Sayulita has recently experienced occasional summer power outages (this is town wide & not specific to our home) which means hot nights if there is no AC or ceiling fan. We have purchased several USB powered fans & highly recommend keeping them charged just in case the power goes out or brown-outs prevent AC usage.

* Don’t be surprised to spot crabs wandering around, lizards on ceilings, and yes, a few spiders. The geckos will cruise around on walls and ceilings eating smaller insects, including mosquitoes, so they are our friends, please do not kill them. Insects love the jungle, and we love them, they keep our environment healthy. Casa Nicoya uses pest control procedures only when necessary. The house comes with several bottles of bug repellant for you to use if you need it. Scorpions are rare but possible, so we recommend walking around with flip-flops and leaving shoes turned upside down.

Please use the contact form to get in touch, by email or telephone, with any questions and to request a reservation. We look forward to welcoming you to Sayulita!

Our stay was perfect!
The property management group was fantastic and communicated via Whats App very quickly and handled any requests or questions we had.
House was great, loved the pool- if you have small kids pls be mindful that there are a lot of stairs and steep drops. Great for us as we had a baby who couldn’t walk yet and adults.

Everything you need!
There were 3 couples in our group for a long weekend and this place was the perfect for a home base. Plenty to do, beautiful views, close to town (be prepared for some stairs). It was well furnished and stocked, the hosts were attentive and helpful and the architecture is beautiful!

Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!
The house is amazing!
The open spaces and pool and palapa made a perfect setting for our group of old friends reuniting for 5 days. The center plaza in town is just a 2 minute (steep) walk away for everything else that you could need. We spent so much time hanging around at the house because it was the nicest place in town!
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend Lisa's house to anybody else.

Outstanding stay
During our 12-night stay, we had the entire property to ourselves, and the experience was nothing short of glorious from the moment we stepped in. The house, perfectly suited for six adults, provided each of us with our own space to enjoy. The views from the top floor were simply sensational, and the overall cleanliness and well-equipped kitchen added to the charm.

We appreciated the thoughtful touches, such as the complimentary coffee and spices, which made the stay more convenient. Not having to worry about basics like toilet paper and paper towels was a nice touch. The daily housekeeping service proved to be invaluable, allowing us to fully savor our vacation. The housekeeper went above and beyond by preparing a huge and delicious traditional meal with generous portions.

The house itself was a blend of modernity and timeless elegance, creating a relaxed vibe that we thoroughly enjoyed. Every corner seemed like an Instagram-worthy shot, showcasing the attention to detail in the design. We are already looking forward to returning next year, a testament to the truly 5-star experience. The communication throughout our stay was excellent and highly responsive. Overall, it was an exceptional and memorable stay.

Lisa is an excellent host. We didn't know the area, so her recommendations in the detailed guide she wrote as well as answering my questions over the months leading up to our stay was super helpful! Her place is lovely and was perfect for our family of four. Beds and bedrooms were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and we loved that the house was open. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful home & great host
Our family of five just returned from nine days at the beautifully designed and uniquely crafted Casa Nicoya. The open air common areas allowed everyone a comfortable space throughout the day. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed cooking breakfast, sitting at the dining table, watching the sun light up the fauna with the birds singing. It was magic.
We enjoyed the sunny pool area with the optional shaded Palapa with plenty of charging plugs. We grilled or catch of the day and then dined poolside with a view of the ocean. It is a short walk to town but a golf cart was worth it. Lisa is a wonderful host. She provides a welcome booklet with everything you need to know. All of her recommendations, especially the alley cat catamaran tour, was so much fun.
The only downside of the trip was the band playing downtown. If you are a light sleeper pack some earplugs. In total we had a fantastic vacation.

In 2013, my husband (Eric) and I quit our fast paced Bay Area tech jobs to backpack around the world for a year. And after a year of exploring, we just. couldn't. stop. One year turned into a lifestyle as we have transitioned into our dream life of working remotely while traveling the world. We now split our time between Sayulita, Lisbon, San Francisco/Tahoe and "somewhere new and exciting". We are always eager to explore new cultures, learn a new language, and make new interesting friends. Extra passport pages are evidence I am living the life I want to live. We are grateful to have traveled to many fabulous places in the world, and found ourselves looking forward every year to our stint in Sayulita. So we decided to plant some roots, and bought a home in Sayulita that allows us to live here in the Casita a few months a year while renting the main house to fellow travelers like you! We welcome you to our dream home in this magical Pueblo and look forward to sharing it with you!
