She is a merchant of the highest quality, hand-selected, hand-prepared spices and herbs. “Sana” is a combination of two languages. In Turkish it means “you” and in Spanish it means ”healthy”. This describes her goal.
In 2020 she opened a store/workshop in Sayulita. Here customers could step into a delightful, nostalgic and aromatic world, smell their way through jars of freshly-made spices, create handmade gifts, have a shot of locally-grown turmeric juice or a cup of relaxing tea. Chat to the spice connoisseurs about the next meal and get inspired with the new flavors. She closed the store in 2023 in order to return fully to the Farmer's Markets and spend more gardening.
With a healthy array of spices and spice mixes you have a foundation for nearly any dish that you want to prepare. Sana Spices carries unique varieties only available at her market stand! Indian Curry, Coffee Spice, Khmeli Suneli, Al Pastor, Chilaquiles Spice, Bengali Chicken Soup Spice, Four Peppers and Cardamom and many more are blended freshly every week. She also makes limited edition seasonal blends with the ingredients straight from her spice garden! Every single recipe has a story behind and a personal experience. Sana Spices has a wide range of spices grown in Mexico such as: smoked chipotle and other chillies, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, epazote, vanilla, dill, sage, basil and many more. Her family helps her to grow saffron, cornflowers, calendula, caraway, paprika and other ingredients in Ukraine as well. Only a few: black pepper, nutmeg and cloves are imported from Zanzibar and India.
Please contact me if you would like to create a handmade gift for your loved ones or create your own spice mix! In addition to my hand-blended spice mixes, I am happy to make a custom blend to adjust to your taste, for example without garlic or onion, or with extra chile. You can contact me by email, Whatsapp or via the contact form on this page.
New spices! We also now have Zarandeado fish (a Nayarit blend and it’s not hot mix)!
Herbs and spices require different climates to grow and proper methods of dehydrating and keeping them fresh. In the humid places its best to keep the spices in the fridge or freezer if not used frequently. In dry climates spices stay fresh for 1-2 years.
Many store bought herb and spice blends can contain additives, anti-caking agents or MSG. Sana Spices is taking extra care to provide pure spices, herbs and blends of the best quality. For that reason, sizes of the packaging varies from extra small to large. Most of our spice blends does not contain any sugar or salt, but we do have sugar rims and salts with spices as well!
Thank you Lori :)
